GoFrogs: Dalton Tabbed Maxwell Award Semifinalist
TCU quarterback ranks fourth nationally in passing efficiency
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. -- Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski has announced TCU quarterback Andy Dalton as one of 16 semifinalists for the 74th Maxwell Award, recognizing collegiate football's top player. Also a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's best quarterback, Dalton ranks fourth nationally in passing efficiency with a 166.68 rating. His 39 victories as a starting quarterback lead the nation among active players.
For the season, Dalton has completed a TCU single-season record 67.5 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He's also third on the Horned Frogs with 418 yards rushing on a 6.0 per carry mark. He has run for first downs on 38.6 percent of his carries.
A four-year starter, Dalton has led TCU to its third straight top-10 ranking. The Horned Frogs are 10-0 and third in all major polls and the BCS standings.
Dalton has the third-lowest career interception percentage (2.33) among active quarterbacks with a minimum of 800 attempts. He is TCU's career leader in passing yards (9,699), touchdowns (63), completions (767), attempts (1,244) and completion percentage (61.7).
Dalton completed 21-of-26 passes for a career-high 355 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's 47-7 win at Utah.
In the last eight games, Dalton has three of the top-seven all-time single-game completion percentages at TCU.
A senior from Katy, Texas, Dalton has thrown for at least one touchdown pass in a Mountain West Conference record 18 consecutive games.
