FWST: No. 3 TCU rallies, then holds on against San Diego State

TCU coach Gary Patterson tried his best to put on a happy face after his Horned Frogs defeated San Diego State 40-35 on Saturday.
There should have been an overwhelming display of triumph from Patterson and his players during the postgame activities on the field and in the locker room after the third-ranked Frogs finished victorious in the final home game of 2010 and the last game at Amon G. Carter Stadium before the 80-year-old venue undergoes a massive renovation.
But that wasn't the case. Patterson tried to explain the dueling emotions swirling in his head after the Frogs (11-0, 7-0 Mountain West) prevailed where it mattered most -- on the scoreboard -- but may have failed to impress voters and computers enough to stay ahead of Boise State when today's Bowl Championship Series standings are announced.
"Bottom line, we found a way to win," Patterson said. "You have to give San Diego State a lot of credit." ...
