FWST: Breaking down Texas Tech's 56-53 OT victory over TCU
First quarter
Skye Dawson scored on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Trevone Boykin to give TCU a 7-0 lead to cap a five-play, 75-yard drive on its first possession.
Second quarter
Trailing 17-14, Texas Tech surprised TCU with an onside kick, and Summitt Hogue recovered it at the Red Raiders 49. Seth Doege completed five passes on the seven-play drive, including an 18-yard touchdown pass to Eric Ward in the end zone.
Third quarter
Late in the quarter, TCU had to settle for a 32-yard field goal by Jaden Oberkrom after a seven-play drive fizzled, thanks to a false start penalty that forced a third-and-8. Boykin's 2-yard run, the sixth run on the drive, set up the kick for a 23-21 TCU lead.
