Says someone who does not know!12 teams is total Crap. The National Championship Team will be within the top 5-7 ranked teams only. So, 8 is more than enough.
We already have a 10-team playoff if you consider the conference championship games a de facto first playoff round. Which I do. But now it'll be pretty meaningless.
The conference championship will still matter because top 4 seeds are all conference champs plus the top 6 conference champs make the playoffsWe already have a 10-team playoff if you consider the conference championship games a de facto first playoff round. Not sure how you can look at it that way when every year at least one of those CCG winners is left out of the actual playoff, and some years 2-3 can be left out.We already have a 10-team playoff if you consider the conference championship games a de facto first playoff round. I think the conference championships will still be very important as only conference champions can get one of the four byes.

Unfortunately, competitiveness and wins aren’t part of the decision. All about $$$. None of the sooner brass care enough, and the fans will claim the payout is worth it, even though they don’t get any of the payoutSooner gotta be feeling pretty dumb right about now. They’d be pretty much an auto bid to the playoff every year if they had stayed. Now they’ll be lucky to see the playoff once a decade

Close.CCFP Board of Managers...aren't these the guys in charge of those knock-down-the-bottles-with-a-baseball games at the Stock Show midway?
Keep an eye out for white smoke coming from the chimney…..FYI: The CCFP Management Committee (the one with the Athletic Directors) is scheduled to meet next week!
All quite likely via the Herbstreit “eyeball” (tool) rule.Additionally, it could have an effect, both good or bad, in getting a second conference team into the playoff! Remember, the winner of the conference championship game will be designated the "conference champion", and therefore get awarded the Big-12's AQ bid, regardless of the pre-game rankings of the two teams.
You could see a scenario where, say, a #6 ranked Baylor is playing a 14th (or even 18th) ranked TCU in the Championship Game, and TCU upsets Baylor (See last year). Most likely, in that situation, Baylor would lose 2-3-4 slots back to a #9 or #10 ranking, but still be in the playoff as an at-large team, while TCU would also get into the playoff, regardless of how many, or how few, slots they get bumped up, courtesy of their brand-new Get Out of Jail Free card (the AQ bid)!
Conversely, you could have a scenario where a #6 ranked Baylor is playing a #11 ranked TCU in the Championship game, and in this situation, Baylor ekes out a narrow win over TCU, as expected, thereby knocking TCU (the second team) out of the playoffs at the very last minute!
We can call that OUT regret.Sooner gotta be feeling pretty dumb right about now. They’d be pretty much an auto bid to the playoff every year if they had stayed. Now they’ll be lucky to see the playoff once a decade
