Austin American-Statesman: Road-loving TCU will face tough task against blistering hot Cowboys

Patterson’s Horned Frogs beat SMU 56-36 Saturday to improve to 3-0. On Monday, TCU jumped three spots in the Associated Press poll to 17th, but Patterson thought his team had the edge in talent to win by 80 points. The Horned Frogs defense allowed too many trick plays, he said, and quarterback Kenny Hill was sacked three times.
And Patterson didn’t like it that his players appeared to be more concerned about overtly performing for the folks in the stands at Amon Carter Stadium.
“Want to know why we win more ballgames on the road? Because we don’t act like that,” Patterson said in his post-game news conference. “We need to focus in. Not worry about who’s in the stands.”
Patterson, whose teams have a .773 winning percentage on the road since 2009, gets his wish this Saturday. TCU travels to Stillwater to face No. 6 Oklahoma State, the team with the acid-hot offense led by quarterback Mason Rudolph, a Heisman Trophy favorite, and his flock of receivers.
