He seemed to always be looking for the big pay day. Then once he gets there he just doesn't want it.

Going back to high school seems like he was always a head case.

Didn't he commit to two or three other schools before coming to us?

Him being a distraction and in general a pain in the ass was telegraphed well before he got here. His recruitment was an absolute circus. And supposedly he had "handlers" who didn't want him to risk getting hurt so he was a on a strict pitch count in terms of how many touches he got. Apparently he was fine with it, as were many TCU fans, because wow, Zack Evans, 5-star!!!

Major prima donna, and GP loved him. The Zack Evans saga was when I knew GP was pretty much done being a good coach.

Was I supposed to type something here?
Let's not pile on the young man he didnt have any major issues when on our roster.
Well, there was that small matter of his demands, such as "I only want to run the ball 10-15 times per game."
Had he carried the ball more, we probably would have won a couple of those games we wound up losing. I don't know what was worse, him making such demands, or Patterson agreeing to his conditions.

Still helped us big in a few games and atleast he was honest upfront.

He didn't help us win anything that mattered. We were 11-11 in his two years here. And the year after he left we went 13-2.

Addition by subtraction. There are 80+ guys on a team, just one who thinks he's above it all and who can dictate his own playing time is enough to stink up a locker room. And you could tell by watching those teams, the locker room stunk.

I remember his actual teammates saying he was a good one.

Oh, I'm sure a lot of his teammates loved him. Might have been a nice kid, probably was. And he was a "leader" on the team by default because of the circumstances and because of the way GP talked him up.

Good luck to a football team whose "leaders" are on a pitch count because they want to protect themselves from injury.

To my knowledge he didnt cause any lockerooom issues unlike that DeSoto QB we had a few years before.

I don't think Shawn Robinson's teammates really respected him all that much. I think a lot of kids looked up to Zack Evans, and that was the problem.

There are those that are a little subtle in how they cancer up a locker room, but in my opinion having ZE on the team did a lot more bad than good. Your best players need to be the hardest workers and the biggest gamers. If they aren't, you have a problem.
