Would a win tonight actually calm/assuage any concerns?

I agree we could use the extra practices for sure and it would benefit the youngsters.

However, my concerns come from whether this staff would actually use them wisely. We heard Payne would be more active/have a larger role what, 2-3 weeks ago, and he has had a grand total of 3 carries (or something close to that) since that statement. Very odd.

We also were told that they got back to fundamentals this week and while I guess there was some improvement in that regard, it wasn’t by leaps and bounds, that’s for sure.
Well you were right, Payne was active in full uniform and ready to go.
Now he‘s had 3 carries in the last 2 games.
There is no excuse for that.

Just like there was no excuse for burning timeouts only to punt vs. UU.
It’s very poor offensive coaching. If your offense is subbing with < 20 sec.
to go on the play clock; then you’re gonna get penalized or burn time outs

It’s like they are scrambling trying to find a running game and blocking schemes, but forgetting fundamentals.

but hey we managed to beat a walk on QB last week to keep our hopes at the South Detroit Chips Ahoy Bowl alive....so let's party!
You sound dumber every time you say that.

Isaac Wilson was the number 21 QB in his class and received 18 offers including Miami and Oregon.

With all the negativity and bad information you make a good candidate to ignore.

Easy now. FB09 may have some angle here. Tyler Van Dyke, Behren Morton, Preston Stone, Sam Huard, Devin Brown, Ken Seals !!!! Ty Simpson were all top 20 QB recruits. What have they done?? Isaac Wilson has a good arm. He was not a Walk on as far I can find.

Miami & Oregon have a good/bad history of throwing the X against the wall when it comes to recruiting. While I Wilson may not have been a walk on, I don't think he was a top 50 recruit, maybe riding on the coattails of his brother.

LOL.

"There are lots of 4 star QBs who aren't great as true freshmen" (ahem, Duggan) is a long way from "he's a walk on".

Wilson was a #21 (or #18, depending on service) national QB recruit. Calling him a walk on is ignorant.

Was I supposed to type something here?
It sure did!!
That was a little different, as it was out of the Wild Frog, but similar idea.
Do you remember this one?

I actually had that in mind!

Just having Battle throw once out of that formation would cause DCs to panic. Right now, that's a one-dimensional formation: "He's gonna run! Stack the box!" And then, the ball goes sailing over everybody's heads... Things like that allow us to dictate initiative, and keep the opposition guessing. Like the old Napoleonic era toast, "Confusion to our enemies!"

What an era in college football. #3 vs. #5 out of the MWC. Conference realignment, transfer portal, NIL and CFP all destroyed that. Power has been consolidated into about a dozen or fewer programs.
1. Transfer portal
2. NIL
3. CFP Expansion
4. CFP
5. Conference realignment

All of it had contributed, but I think that's the order of things that's pretty much ruined it IMO. I still can't believe they are trying to act like it's a compelling product with annual free agency and no spending cap. I guess they have no choice though. Any other sports league would be committing suicide if they tried that, I guess college football fans are so used to rooting for their favorite jerseys they don't care about much else.

Read what I said. "He was not a walk on as far as I can find" I was simply referring to FB09 suggesting I Wilson was. I will admit, I'm somewhat hearing challenged. No offense, but many people are vision challenged including myself.

And unless there is an Enlightenment, the egos and greed have placed college football in memory care awaiting the inevitable IMO.

There might be a chink in your word choice.

Teutonic knights generally preferred maille over plate armor for mobility, excepting arms and legs.

I recall heeheehee-ing the whole game watching it on TV...and reading the next morning (remember when there was overnight reporting/coverage of most all events, news and sports?) a quote from one of the Utah assistant coaches thanking GP for "not scoring a 100 on us"....Gratitude? Or passage-aggressive sarcasm? Either...it was still a good day....

It’s criminal.

Imagine how that team would have absolutely trounced this year's team... And the entirety of the Big 12 this year...

That team had NFL players (of varying success of course but NFL types) all over the field.
