With Pachall at QB we win last night by 30+

I think with the offensive line we had this year, CP would have been hurt earlier in the
year. I don't think he would have been able to play last nite.

What did we see from this team in the first 4 weeks that indicated we were 30 points better with CP at QB than Boykin? This team had issues that went beyond how accurate our passer was. It's pretty apparent that this team was young and had little established leadership on the field. Dropped passes, fumbled punts. CP may be the more talented passer, but it should be patently obvious to everyone that he wasnt the leader we needed this year on the offensive part of the ball.

Tired of hearing this wistfulness for CP. He was part of the atmosphere that led to the leadership void on the team this year. This team was not awesome when he was on the field. He was fortunate to have played during by far the weakest part of the schedule.

Is CP a more accurate passer with a stronger arm than Boykin? No question. But let's cut all this dreamy wistfulness for what this season would have been with him at QB. Ryan Leaf was an accurate passer with a strong arm too. Sometimes its about more than talent.

This. Hate losing but would rather do it with people who are leaders and making efforts to do things the right way, with their focus and priorities straight. Truly hope CP has turned it around. The report from his dad last night was encouraging. Hope he is serious about his life and future and undserstanding what having the things he had means to him and others -- family, friends and teammates -- who count on him.

The one thing that will be good about CP returning if he does is that he has taken care of himself and his business and has regained the trust of GP because GP is not going to let someone bring his team and program and image down.

CP is 10X the QB Boykin is. That's not saying TBs not a good QB, but Casey's headed to the NFL as a QB-- if TB makes it, it will be at another positon. And you can't lead if you can't produce. While CP may have not been a vocal leader, his play did his talking for him.

Anybody who doesn't wish we had Pachall on the field last night is blinded by personal bias against him for one reason or another. If you actually go back and look at the first four games you will see that out offense was rolling, redzone turnovers were just an issue. We don't really know if we cleaned up the redzone turnovers because we stopped getting to the redzone after Pachall left. Even in the Virginia game that everyone says was a disaster Pachall finished 30 of 42 and a QB rating of 170 or something. Our QB rating last night was 96. Double digits.

Do you really think the team would rather go 7-6 than have the opportunity for 10+ wins? Do you really think Boyce and Carter amd all the others want to jump, dive and pray that they catch two passes a game? Do you think the defense loves playing the entire game because we can't complete a simple 3 yard dump off to the RB?

W-I-N... Straight from Patterson. Playing hard and losing gets you nowhere

Well said.

Thanks for explaining the psychology of opinion. What about those of us who simply don't believe that CP would have been upright long enough without a running game to be as much of an impact player as we think he could be?

This is a great point I think. OL growth and improvement is probably a very close second for me in terms of what interests me this offseason behind QB development.

Pachall would have been hurt before the team got to WV. This OL was just brutal. I've gotta hope there is improvement in the off season but I have some concerns.

The young OT's should be better - how much is still undetermined. But I have no idea whats going to happen in the middle of the line - which in my mind was our biggest weakness. And now Fry and Flotz are gone.

Could anybody kiss CPs kneecaps more than you do? He is potentially a great QB but he showed his asss to his teammates, coaches, and the entire TCU community. Hope he makes it back but call me skeptical regarding his lack of leadership and selfishness. This season's struggle including last night's loss is all on him.

So was it that outstanding performance against Kansas or that spectacle against SMU that convinced you this team was a 10 win team with Pachall at QB?

The offense was rolling? Hardly. You seem to only remember what you want to remember. The offense was anemic before he left. Virginia put the pressure on and were it not for their horrific offense we would've had a similar situation to last night. We had to score a TD with about a minute left to get to 27 points. His rating was high because Brandon Carter made big plays out of a couple of bad passes. People were ready to jump off the ledge after the game. The next game against SMU everybody blames the rain. The truth is they blew up our line and Casey was on his butt the entire game just like he would've been most of this season. I don't think many people hate Casey. You seem to be easily offended when people point out we really weren't very good even when he was playing. It's the truth. That said, I hope he's back this spring and healthy and ready to lead this team. I'm proud of him for going through treatment and committing to change his life. My guess is it will also help mold him into a real leader on this team once he's back.
