'We didn't know how to win': K-State blows late lead in stunning Big 12 loss to TCU

Kellis Robinett, The Wichita Eagle

Jan. 13—MANHATTAN — The Kansas State men's basketball team suffered its most painful loss of the season on Wednesday at Bramlage Coliseum.

And that's saying something.

The Wildcats let a late lead slip away and lost 60-57 to TCU less than a minute after it seemed like they were in complete control. The Horned Frogs stunningly closed out the game by scoring eight unanswered points, including seven in the final 24 seconds.

"There's not much I can say ... We had the game in hand," K-State coach Bruce Weber said. "We just needed to make one play down the stretch."

Why was it "stunning." Who are they? Not like we upset Gonzaga or Baylor.
Maybe stunning because ...

"That shot wiped away what had been a forgettable shooting night for the Horned Frogs. They finished the game 6 of 20 from deep and missed half their free throws (11 of 22). They also turned it over 16 times, including 10 in the second half."

It was ugly until the last minute.

11 out of 22 FTs is absolutely unforgiveable. That's middle school percentages. Good thing we pulled it out or that would have been the reason we lost.
When he stepped to the line, you could tell by the look in his eyes that Lampkin didn't have confidence in his ability to hit a free throw.

Someone should teach them that the way for an 8-7 team to win and avoid "stunning" upsets by an 11-2 team is to score more points than the other team.
