I feel that out of all the fanbases in the country, and especially in the state, Texas A&M's fanbase was the poster child of the hate, doubt, and detraction we faced during our successful runs and accomplishments as a program.
We received a lot of criticism and doubt during our successful seasons from all directions. But it came from College Station the most. Any time we had a good season, big win, their fanbase would find a way to rain on our parade and try to knock us down. They were probably the biggest users of the "you played nobody" logic, and that seemed to be their retort every time we had success.
I feel their fanbase has never respected our program, and still has not given us credit for our progress and accomplishments as a program. They still have not given us our due. Because we were successful in a time where they were not, they coped by putting us down.
Despite all this, year after year we continued to have a better season than they did(even if they won't admit it). It was our success on the field, and their lack of success on the field, that made everything OK in the end, because no matter what they said or tried to do to knock us down, we knew that we were on top where it mattered - What we did on the field. Not what conference we played in, not how many butts we put in the seats, not how many tickets we sold or how many 4 star recruits we signed. But we knew we were superior to Texas A&M due to results on the field.
And now that for the first time since 2004 they have had a better season than us, and we know we are not superior to them due to on field accomplishments, its hard to give them the respect that they should have given us all these years.
I know that you could make the same case for Texas Tech or Baylor fanbases, but A&M is just those two fanbases on steroids and a lot more irrational, cult-like, and hard to deal with.
