What's your thoughts on TCU's new transfer qb

He's unfortunately not going to have a lot of throws with 10 yards of separation like most of those. Hope he can make those throws.
Lost track of the number of times the announcer said “wide open.” Hit a few with good coverage though and a couple of cross body throws in there were nice. Looked like he sidearmed a few but whatever works. Very happy to see him pull it back and run some.

I think since our new offensive coaches don't have Power 4 Conference experience, they felt more comfortable taking on coaching a quarterback that had less experience than them and, in fact, not even Group of 5 experience. He basically was rated at or near the bottom of quarterbacks in the portal. Frogs probably got him for every little money.

I think Craig is getting darn good money since he’s passing up being a possible Day 2 NFL draft pick (at least according to Kiper.)

Strange take for a qb that was getting NFL draft considerations before he decided to play college ball one more year at the D1 level. (Think he was tracking at a day 3 pick, with the biggest question being how his skills would project. So going and playing P4 ball can elevate his draft stock for next year if he continues to perform.)

portal rankings are paper tiger stories if I’ve ever seen such a thing.

Jaden Craig has his sight set on the NFL and wants a season of seasoning in FBS and is expecting to be QB #1 for the Frogs. His Frog year begins now. If he doesn’t start over Schobel, things have gone awry. I hope the Frogs have an offensive line that does not cause him to regret his decision.
Let's just hope this is not another Delton-Max situation. Let the best player play regardless who it is.

Not sure how many QB's are in the portal but ESPN ranked him #10, which does not seem near the bottom.
Would be interested in your source for that poor rating

" If you ask NFL scouts, there's little debate about Craig being the top FCS passer in the portal. He already had a Day 3 draft grade going into the season and was previously Mel Kiper's No. 9 QB prospect for the 2026 draft."

" He possesses tremendous arm strength and excellent mobility both in and outside the pocket. He can make all the throws and is confident in letting it rip." "Craig gets the ball out of his hand quickly and with zip. He has made improvements in full-field progressions through his career and has Baker Mayfield-type gunslinger traits. "

" Coach Sonny Dykes wants to transition away from Air Raid ball in 2026 and brought in new OC Gordon Sammis from UConn to shake things up. Craig should be a really good fit for a more pro-style approach going forward in Fort Worth."

It’s funny how everyone thinks any coach with any connection to Leach runs the Air-Raid. We might be shaking up the offense but we aren’t transitioning from the Air-Raid. Neither Kendal or Art ever ran the Air-Raid.

I would even argue that there are parts of the air raid in nearly every NFL offense, so I don’t even know what a “pro-style” offense is anymore.

I had targets that I liked better, but most did. Craig was never one of those targets…not even as an afterthought.
But I must admit, I like his film. He’s big/tall. He has good vision, a strong accurate arm and he isn’t nailed to the turf.
I first said we could do better. Given that we had a budget, maybe we did pretty well.
Craig is going to be good for us. Schobel is going to have quite a battle on his hands to get the starting position over Craig. It’s gonna be fun…

Couple other quotes in the article that should excite Frog fans:

"Small-college QB with big-college arm talent."
"We love his demeanor and instincts. He's highly competitive and knows he's good."

Craig was not really on anybody's radar to target because it was assumed he was going pro. My guess is our new OC had been doing some extra "homework" to check on the kid.
