Here are 2 hypotheticals (ok it is slow at the office, sue me). Assume you *must* choose one or the other below. If you survive either scenario you would win $300k. If you don't finish either, you don't win any of the money. I have asked some friends their views and IMO too many are choosing the boxing option. I don't think they realize how much they would get absolutely pummled.

Option 1
3 months of training with world-class boxing trainer
You must then fight the reigning world champion 3 rounds. As long as you don't get knocked out, you win $300k
= or > than 200lb at time of fight, you would fight the middleweight champ (3 rounds)
= or < than 199lb at time of fight, you would fight the lightweight champ (3 rounds)
And there would be a ref there and you couldn't just run around and avoid contact. You would have to box. You could hold and do all the moves that are allowed or legal, but you could't just run away and avoid the fighter for 9 minutes.

Option 2
3 months of training with Dallas Cowboys
You must play Shawn Lee's LB spot for 4 full quarters in a regular season game following the training
If you survive and don't get pulled for lack of effort or injury, you win the $300k. If you get injured or pulled because you are running the opposite way every snap, (or doing too much "oleying" and not taking on blocks for example and getting pulled for it), the prize money would be null and void.

Which option would you choose?

Even with 3 months of training with a world class trainer?

Not really sure of the premise but it is #2 for me by a mile. No way I step into the ring with a trained fighter even after 3 months of training. Yes the LB spot is tough and would be painful but delivering hits is so much better than receiving them (in boxing and football).

Football

I wouldn't be a good NFL LB by any means, and I'm pretty sure the opposing team would score quite a lot while I was on the field, but I think I could handle the physical beating

I get 3 months of training with the Cowboys also. I figure the training kind of cancels itself out. So I think about if I'd rather go play middle linebacker tonight, or box for 3 rounds. I'll play LB.

Boxing. I don't want to play for the Cowboys.

And can I skip all the training? I'd prefer not to have to actually work for my $300k.

Football, the boxing champ KO's most professional opponents and I'd say I'd last no more than 1 minute. I think I could actually start today for the Cowboys with no training. With training I'd be the slightly shorter, much fatter, white DWash, with a 5.7 40 time.

How about an option where you spend 3 months getting in the worst shape possible, then fight Roddog?

Option 2 is a no brainer because in Option 1 you could lose by getting knocked out. Even a trained professional boxer is at risk of getting knocked out in 3 rounds.

It'd be fun to do either though.

Anyone remember who this Fort Worth man is? He knocked out Larry Holmes twice.

Yes. You could make it three years and it wouldn't make a difference. The current champion of the world (depending on whose credentials you use) just knocked out Manny Pacquaio. Pretty sure three months of learning how to duck isn't going to give me the reflexes needed to avoid dreamland.
