I know it been nearly 20 years and the Forum and KFC started separately but how about a history lesson on the humble beginings. who started what, when and how it all came together into its present grandeur.

I know it been nearly 20 years and the Forum and KFC started separately but how about a history lesson on the humble beginings. who started what, when and how it all came together into its present grandeur.

It all started with the old Frog Fan Forum, which was owned by Don Dowell. After a few years, Don started doing some work for TCU and decided that he may have a conflict of interest on his hands and decided to get out of the FFF business.

Being a devoted regular, I offered to take it and registered the name Killerfrogs.Com because the FFF was on dowell.com, if memory serves me correctly. I assembled an ownership group of 7 people and we expanded the site to include some basic content.

Back "in the day" we had to hard code everything and the board was the old threaded style and was powered by CGI scripts. It wasn't long after we took over the site that we switched to the linear style that was PHP based and operates off of databases, which are less troublesome and very dependable.

After a few more years, we sold to Scott Nix and I was just going to take pictures, which I suck at but love doing. After my son died, Scott was kind enough to ask me if I wanted to come back as an owner and it was at the right time because I needed something to get me out of my "funk" so I came back. I am grateful that he did and owe him for that one.

Thats the basic story

I stumbled upon the old SWGolf FFF in 1997. I remember distinctly the "should we fire Pat Sullivan" debates. Boy I'm glad he was let go when he was. Amazing the growth TCU has experienced since that time. Thanks Don, Wes, Scott, and the crew for giving us this forum. It truly has lowered productivity at work for me since 1997.

Some of the best convos here have been with the likes of VirginiaFrog and others who worked at channel 11 in the independence days, brought back so many memories of Icky Twerp, etc.

Gunner & Whitewolf ruled to board back when I first joined and I loved giving Deep and Arkafrog (Scott) to hardest of times.

I was Tired in Dallas and got pretty adamant about getting rid of Sully. Tired of Frank was on Windegger's case. Who else was there?

I always liked Tired of [fill in the blank] Was always good to get thrown into a rant.

Another good rant making moment was talking anything about Oklahoma U to Davey O.

My best memory of the old golfsw days was getting Billy Tubbs the transcript from that coach that bagged us so he could shove it in his pocket on the court after we had beaten them.

Yep, Tired, Toad Trailer, HFP, Old Rip before spell check, me, Whitewolf, Don. The Tubbs transcript thing was a great moment for the FFF.

The chat room was always busy, too. Nice meeting him and his staff at ...what was that internet bar called, the Internet Rodeo? Hyman came into the place the evening after the breakup of the WAC was announced looking like hell. Wes trying to explain the very simple chat room to Karl Benson (WAC commish)...and failing...I knew that night that the WAC was is trouble.

Lots of clever rumors Wes (Tired back then) started the rumor of a great basketball talent named Klaatu Nicto.

Started following back in 97' or 98' when Don had it. I was living in Hollywood Fla at that time and it allowed me to keep with TCU.

I can't remember when I started posting, but I think it was in 1995 or 1996. I didn't even have internet at work so I would read after hours at home, or at my wife's office when I was just hanging around.

And Wes, you were Tired, correct?

I remember getting into an argument with Deep when he insisted Mack Brown might be willing to leave UNC for TCU (which had just gone 1-10 in the WAC), because DFW had a better road infrastrucutre than Chapel Hill. Ah, the good old days!
