To be fair, at the time, SMU was still trying out the Preston Stone experiment. He ended up getting benched that game. Jennings came in and struggled too but had the bye week to prepare for us.

He usually had good info in recruiting the back when I looked before.

I don't know why the Big 12 abandoned rivalry week. TCU should be playing Baylor, Utah should be playing BYU, Kansas should be playing Kansas State, Texas Tech should be showing up to other Texas teams' stadiums begging for their attention.

Because they want to maximize viewers and none of those rivalries are as big as Michigan/OSU, Bama/Auburn, Texas/A&M, Florida/Florida State, etc... It's better for viewership having them spread throughout the season.
