So, the committee is exactly what folks warned about — Brand Management.

Texas has no business being in the top 20. Shouldn't even be in top 25. Ohio State should not be #1.
Notre Dame should not be higher than 15. Not sold that ASU should be in the top 25. I think Ole Miss should be ahead of Tech.

Tulane has wins over Northwestern, Duke, ECU, and Memphis.
James Madison has a win over Old Dominion.
North Texas has a won over Navy and WSU.
Whoever gets in between North Texas and Tulane, if that team wins out (and Navy for that matter) has a legit claim to be in the CFP. Sorry, but James Madison's resume just doesn't do it.

They get an ESPN tongue bath every time they are mentioned.

"Ratings gold! Gold!"
The important thing to keep in mind is that committee isn't likely getting much deeper in the numbers of the teams than folks do here on KF.c and other boards. Think about that. They are not watching all those teams.
This thing is about brand management.
Tech could win out, and I doubt they give them a bye week.

What 7 "non-brand" teams below Texas should be ahead of them? Virginia? Here's a fun fact......TCU is ahead of Virginia in the Massey ratings. They are probably the most overrated team in this ranking.

Michigan? They are as blue blood as it gets.
Tennessee? Why should they be ahead of Texas? They've beaten nobody.
Illinois? Why? They have three bad losses (and one REALLY bad) and best win is by 2 over USC
Missouri? Why? Haven't beaten anyone
Houston? Why? You'll probably cite the 8-2 record but they are behind TCU in the Massey as well.
Tulane? Why? Really?

Come on, let's hear it. Why should Texas not be in the Top 25? Two of three losses to Top 5 teams plus a win over Oklahoma. #12 in Massey, #13 in Sagarin. Just because it's (Brand Management) said a million times doesn't mean it's true.

Crazy how much the devalue UVA because of a Wake Forest loss. But when you look at some of the others above them, they don't get treated the same.
Louisville is getting similar treatment. The beat Miami and Pitt and lost to UVA/CAL/Clemson by a combined 7 points. Why is ASU ahead of them? Other than two of those losses came in the last two weeks.

Virginia is barely even in the Top 35 in the computer rankings.

Lost to NC State and Wake Forest. Beat UNC by 2. Beat Washington State by 2. They are being treated like they are because they just aren't very good. Probably the most overrated team in the country right now, with apologies to Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Illinois.
