Week 10 Games

Coach Tony Elliott and QB Chandler Morris have Virginia on top of the ACC as the lone undefeated team at 5-0. They have won 7 in a row. Turning the Virginia program around with their subpar facilities was no easy task and it began with three players being murdered on campus in 2022. They may not yet be very good but they are 8-1 and 5-0 and building. Elliott reportedly wanted the Frog job and was my preference over Dykes.

11-23 at Virginia prior to this year, and their schedule this year is ridiculously easy for a major conference team. They are barely beating some very average to poor teams. That’s fool’s gold, a lot like Georgia Tech. Some of those ACC schedules are pillow soft.

I have edited my remark with a thought on that, but I think “fool’s gold” is a disrespectful, needlessly diminishing, maybe foolish, thing to say.

I could counter with TCU’s 9-4 and 6-3 record last year was “fools gold“ because of the puff cake schedule.

It just means they aren’t really that good. Because they aren’t. Kudos to them for winning games but they are no better than we are. Nowhere close to the 15th best team in the country.
I didn’t note that they were ranked 15th, nor am I going to compare them to TCU, but I have now noted TCU’s 2024 puffcake schedule in which they went 9-4.

I simply noted they are 8-1 atop the ACC and have won seven in a row, having turned the program around from the 11-23 that you noted.

Yeah, ok. We didn’t play a good schedule last year, although we did play a CFP team in OOC. Might’ve finished 7-6 had we played a tougher schedule, who knows?

You seem to imply though that Tony Elliott would’ve been a better choice over SD. Strange given he won 11 games in his first three seasons. It’s not like UVA was coming off the death penalty, they were 6-6 the year before.

Virginia's SOS is 70, FPI is 46, SOR is 17, GC is 36.
