We Needed This Season

Now that the initial anger and disappointment over the bowl loss has subsided a bit I think it's important to keep perspective. I think we needed this maddening season going forward. Things had been going awfully well for us from 2005 through 2010. A frustrating season like this one and 2007 makes the great ones that much greater. Just like 2007 we have a crop of young players primed for a successful run. Only now the depth across the board is at a much higher level. 2012 was a year where just about everything that could go wrong did, but these young guys fought hard, and I'm really proud of this team. Can't wait for Year 2 in the Big 12. I think the rest of the conference will be surprised at the force our young Frogs become!

Yep, cliche and all that but it sure builds character and as you say we saw no quit in the guys. I was so proud all year. That bowl game will be the type we will be winning 45-7 around here pretty quick. Said all year that this season would pay dividends.

Nothing good happens over breakfast I'm convinced. I was at the same seat at the table when I watched the second plane crash into the Twin Towers (8th grade) and when I saw the TCU bookstore on fire after I had chosen to attend (senior year of high school.)

For Casey, same meal, different house and table.

With the benefit of hindsight its clear that a sense of entitlement (yes its no longer a strictly longwhorn condition) had crept into the upperclasses of the program. How else do you explain the selling drugs, the drinking two days before a game, the failure to attend and pass classes?

Was a season this rough necessary? Well the program needed to fix the problem - unfortunately a rash of injuries just compounded the personnel losses. But lets make no mistake about it - despite the fact that LHCGMFP perhaps did the best coaching job of his career this season was not much fun. What frog fan enjoys losing to tech? Losing to freaking Iowa St? Losing a bowl game not from a lack of talent but because of a lack of intelligence? We went the whole gawd damn season without a conference home win - that's no way to break in a new stadium.

I'm hopeful about the future but I'm still pissed as hell at this past year. I hope the players and coaches are too because the only real way to keep it from happening again is to live this feeling every freakin day that you lift weights, or run, or study, or recruit from this day until we line up to face LSU.

We are loaded for bear. The Bowl was disapointing but knowing we could have blown it open in the 1st Q except for dropped passes and badly missing wide open receivers running free for easy TDs softened it. MSU didn't get the credit for being a really good team due to their record. The only game they lost by more than one score was ND 20-3. They easily could have been 11-1 as we could have been.

Also, I don't buy into the "we need new OCs" BS. Plenty of opportunities to open the game up wasted due to execution by certain players. Same thing throughout the season. This was Burns first year and Andersen's 3rd (?). Let'em grow.

Wrong thread.

Professor Chaos is at it again. Is posting on the wrong thread the latest plan to take over the world?

We learn more from our failures than our successes, as long as we're ready to learn and not just complain.
I figure HCGP learned a lot this year and I hope the players did, too.

Amazing how we [fans] are always right and the coaches and players have so much room to improve.

I am looking forward to the next several years, though. This season "should" put the program in a great place for a long time.
Happy 2013 to Frogs everywhere.

He wanted to, but then found out that the Simpsons already did it, so that plan got foiled too. Silly PC4. Always having his shenanigans foiled.

Nowhere in my incoherent rambling did I come close to a reasonable response. Everyone on this message board is now dumber after reading my post. I will be awarded zero points and may God have mercy on my soul.

There are a lot of things I could have posted on the wrong thread and nobody would have noticed. My location for 9/11 is not one of them.

We just hold PC4 to a higher standard.

Great post. Thank you.
