That screen pass to Tucker was hard to watch. A two yard pass turned into a five yard loss.
Not that I disagree, but I seem to remember that Andy Dalton had some of those "days" when he was a freshman too.

Andy Dalton never had a game like that in his entire life including middle school games.
Well I'm not sure what you mean by "that" but you need to check the stats from the Texas game and Utah game from 2007, both losses, and in the case of Utah.............4 Int's. Of course I did not check the other 3 losses while playing in the MWC that year. In fact, he threw more int's that year than TD's. Boykin before tonight had 15 TD's to 10 Int's and only 300 or so less yards than what AD finished with and had a MUCH BETTER running game.
The more pressing question should be why we picked Boykin over Johnny Manzell.
Andy also attempted FAR more passes over the year than Boykin did, which tells me there was far more confidence in his throwing ability than Boykin and also would account for the more ints and whatnot. He also had about 500-600 yards less than Dalton.
Correct me if I"m wrong, but Michigan State was much worse passing than TCU. No?
Andy did attempt more passes.........but he also played every game, Boykin did not, the completion percentage difference is less that 3%. As for total yards, this stuff is readily available...........Dalton threw for 2459 yards in 13 games where he played QB every game and he threw at least 50 more passes than Boykin. Boykin threw for 2255 yards in 13 games. I am not trying to say Boykin had a great game BUT, many have FORGOTTEN what is was like when Andy Dalton was a freshman on an 8-5 team in the MWC.
NewFrog, we'll just have to agree to disagree. You can point to stats as your evidence (I hadn't added in tonight's stats to Boykin's totals, my apology) that there isn't much difference between the two and that we should remember that Andy wasn't great at first or whatnot but unfortunately, I choose to believe what my eyes tell me.
And for me, my eyes tell me that Andy NEVER had problems delivering a 4 yard swing pass and he never sidearmed his passes that I honestly remember at least. Now he threw some ints, that's for sure, but I'm fairly certain most on here would agree that they never questioned his ability to actually throw a forward pass, I know I didn't. My eyes tell me that Andy was a FAR better passer than Boykin may ever be although your stats may not indicate that to you.
