Expectation and motivation are relative notions in the warm afterglow of a national title. Especially one that came on the business end on the most rampantly successful season of any team in the history of college basketball.
The Lady Bears have not lost a Big 12 game since a defeat to Texas Tech on Feb. 19, 2011. Since that time, Baylor has won 22 consecutive Big 12 regular-season games, 28 including two Big 12 tournaments.
Encased within that run is an 18-0 mark last year that set the tone for a perfect run through the NCAA tournament.
So the motivation comes from unique angles now. After Baylor’s 65-point win over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, coach Kim Mulkey asked assistant sports information director Julie Bennett if any team had ever gone undefeated in the Big 12 two seasons in a row.
Nobody has. Challenge accepted. ...
