Vuvuzelas are idiotic

The "bumble bee" noise has no place in a world championship tournament. I have to mute the TV to watch World Cup. Don't these dils watch the freakin' game? Strange.

JOHANNESBURG -- TV viewers can take out their earplugs -- the vuvuzelas are going to have a bit less buzz.

Host Broadcast Services, the company that provides the broadcast feed for the World Cup, said Tuesday it has doubled its audio filters to reduce the constant blaring buzz of vuvuzelas.

TV viewers around the globe have complained that the swarm-of-bees sound from the plastic horns is stinging their ears.

good point 2314......I try to watch the games, but agree they are pointless, the vuvuzelas are a bit much, makes it harder to concentrate on the action....after a while though one becomes immune...but still, i like the idea of muting them, but of course that takes away from the overall crowd noise which I do like......

Why do they need devices? What's wrong with just yelling? Are they really interested in watching the action?
I am sure I have just offended the soccer freaks on the board.

We need to gather a bunch of people and surround the big 12 offices with those things. Maybe it'd work like the walls of Jericho.

I have been able to drown them out, its pretty easy to do. Also, they should be allowed. You cant ban them. Its the "fan tradition" over there. FIFA knew this when they granted them the World Cup. I think its kind of ignorant for it to be even suggested.

Honestly, it's about 60-40, and the 60 agrees with you (though many of them would suggest you're ever-so-gauche for merely wanting to hear yelling and not singing). I happen to like the horns, in no small part because they piss off the Little-Britain types who think that anything different from how it's done in England is therefore and forever bad.

When my kids asked me what I wanted for Fathers Day, I asked for a Vuvuzela.

My wife quickly out the squash on that fearing for her peace and serenity!

there is an app on the iPhone that you can download and plays that stupid noise - it is pretty much just as annoying as the real thing
I will continue to ignore the Vuvuzela by continuing to ignore the fact that soccer is on
