Very OT... Pizza

My favorites are Cane Rosso, Zoli’s, Olivella’s, and Grimaldi’s. All local except Brooklyn- based Grimaldi’s. I ate at the original in Brooklyn years ago and loved it. First time I tried the chain Fort Worth location I was not impressed. Then tried it again recently and was better. Cane Rosso has a wood fired oven and Zoli’s is gas fired. I like both because they have decent bars where you can sit at the bar and eat a pizza (as do Olivella’s and Grimaldi’s).

Have to admit I still like Campisi’s. Based partly on all the years of great times at the Dallas location.

Campisi's is my personal favorite. Might not be a favorite of the pizza connoisseur's out there, but every time I go it tastes damn good. Love the little salads too that are just iceberg lettuce soaked with dressing, with an olive.

We're heading to Cane Rosso tonight to celebrate my brother's birthday. Never been before, any suggestions?
My pizza preferences are very basic. To each his own, but we like sitting at the bar where you can observe the activity at the wood fired oven while having a cocktail. With a group that might not work.

My wife’s family all grew up in Dallas and Campisi’s was the go-to for all birthdays, etc. I agree that I still like the pizza very much and love the very basic salad. It was a Campisi family atmosphere and always fun. The Fort Worth location pizza is also good, just hard to compete with the old “Egyptian” atmosphere.

If you’re looking for Campisi’s pizza in Fort Worth but don’t want to go to the restaurant, go to their sister establishment called iFratelli. It’s like a dominos setup, but for Campisi’s pizza.

iFratelli and Zoli’s are my favorites in FW.

Love iFratelli too. Didn’t know they were related to Canpisis at all.

iFratelli is good and they are not round but their website says they were founded in 1987 in Irving by the Cole family who still operates it. Unless I’m missing something.

I admit I get my pizza usually from chains It seems like the last few years all the chains have changed their red sauce to the same awful stuff. Where (I live near Alliance Town Center)can I find decent, not great Za? Just not the new sauce everyone is serving.

BTW my favorite pizza of all time WAS Gordo's in North Dallas. If you know of any pizza approaching that let me know. Too bad it closed down. I am no pizza expert/snob, but I know what I like
Mountain Mike’s on 1709 and Wise Guys in Roanoke are decent chains. Alex’s Pasta/pizza on N Tarrant by Academy is our go-to for delivery. Italian Bistro in Roanoke has good pizza too. And check out ZuRoma at the NYTex center in NRH. We always grab a pizza there before Brahmas games.

edit: forgot Calabrese in Southlake. Small selection but amazing.
