The Dunbar, Yates ,d Dallas Lincoln types would whip them. Pilot Point, Iowa City and LaGrange types not so much.

The Dunbar of old maybe. Not anymore.

It's actually a reasonable and fun question-kinda like how would the national champs do in football(CF) against the worst NFL team?

Well, the NC would lose, but what would the game look like might be a better question...

IMO-The UCONN women's team could beat some top high level high school men's teams. And I am not sure who Yates is, BUT they wouldn't whip UCONN. I doubt it. Maybe win by 10 if they won.

One thing you guys are forgetting is that this women's team actually has players who are quite physical-hit the weights AND have the coaching and skills to boot.

I could see the lady Huskies losing a game to an excellent high school men's team, but there's teams they could beat IMO.

You're talking about some of the most talented women in the nation at UCONN-they tend to get the best recruits of all the programs out there overall. They are a powerhouse.

Not only that, but those women and college players in general tend to put in a lot more time than high school players..

I recall playing a pick-up game with a former college lady basketball player from Grambling, I think here in Gainesville, TX. She outweighed me and was more physical than you'd think on defense, etc.. She was strong. No joke.

So what I am trying to say is don't discount the level of skill, physicality and coaching that the TOP collegiate level lady's team has.

The women at this level have a far better understanding of the mental game than most high school players, etc.. and what to do.

I understand there are some excellent men's high school basketball teams out there, but not everyone has 5 players at 6'8 and not every one knows HOW to play as a team like the women's UCONN team does.

Collegiately-I think the lady Huskies would beat some NAIA teams and even some DIV-I, II and III teams. Not a top-25 men's team though(Div-I).

It would be awful fun to see them have an exhibition game against a good TX high school men's team-5A, etc.. :)

No. They would get HAMMERED by all of them. Skill would be irrelevant. Physically they would have no chance.

Anyone else listen to the musers this morning?? They had the same discussion. They agreed. UConn women could beat some great JV teams, but the good 5A boys teams in Texas would kill them. They ironically brought up Yates, Carter, etc.

I haven't played or watched HS Basketball in a loooong time - how prevalent are mid-six footers out there on these types of squads? Any of 'em stacked with manimals?

HAHAHAHAHA!!

On a serious note - Yates, two 25 point scorers in Texas 4A? Jeez. They would pound UConn. But the question is: would Nolan Catholic?

On a truly truly serious note: neither of those Yates 25 PPG guys would happen to be looking at TCU, would they?

Yates was the #1 HS team in the coutry they'd DESTROY UConn. UConn might be able to beat some bad boys HS teams but even elite 2A and 3A teams would beat them. Did anyone see Lubbock Estacado or Dallas Madison's 3A teams?? They would ROLL

TCU offered Brandon Peters, I believe, but he is headed to Western Kentucky. Dude is a high-flying scorer. He would put butss in the seats. I am assuming young is the other 25 ppg kid and I doubt he considered TCU. He is going to Providence.

Estacado and Madison were both pretty good. Not much size, but that is to be expected at the 3A level.

Most pointless thread on this board.

That's a massive exaggeration Sheik. Surely even you don't or shouldn't believe that Yates would score 170 pts on a team that would play way better defense on them than some joe-schmoe high school team that Yates could drop a 100 on...

UConn's whole team IS athletic and they train much harder than most men's high school teams. This isn't football were' talking about with guys going to the gym every day to hit the weights.. Each one of those gals is basically a high school all-star and almost every one of them can shoot lights out and has excellent fundamentals, which is largely lacking in high school basketball across the board.

well, how bout we just challenge Auriemma to let his Husky ladies play a good high school TX team in an exhibition game sometime? :)

What I think would happen is a team like Yates with plenty of good athletes would find Uconn bombing 3 or 4 threes in their face before they started to wake up and stop playing soft basketball. They'd pass the ball inside, kick it back out, find holes on the defense and whoosh.. Most high school teams and players these days don't -play great defense or team defense. Look at the McDonalds AA game with the boys.. It's offense, offense, offense usually.. people wanting to be ball hogs and showboats a lot. Am I right there or what?

Uconn would be a better transition team than many high school mens' teams.

And they would actually play some defense. Especially team defense. Maybe they'd have to go zone and elbow a few guys in the ribs and play a little dirty, but you know what-I bet the women's team would play with a chip on their shoulder and they'd try to prove a point.

If the refs let the ladies play physical-how would the guys respond to a tough physical game from women? They might even push some of those skinny dudes around. Have you seen the center for Uconn? Man-i'd hate to get elbowed by her...

I think it would be very interesting and would love to see it.

Sure, Uconn would have a harder time getting off shots, but they would be fast to adjust I think and still find ways to score.

I have a hard time believing Uconn couldn't score at least 35-40 pts on Yates. Even if it was 10 threes or more... And I think they would catch them off guard- suprise them, at how good they are, before they woke up and started playing good ball.

No, I really wasnt trying to exaggerate, I really believe the score would be something like that. Women just cant match up to men athletically, its just a fact of life. Which is why the womens world record in the 100 meters is like 10.5 while men in high school are running 10 flat 100's. The only way they score 35-40 points is if they jacked up 3's all game (and somehow got them off) and hit about 70% of them.

Yes, their fundamentals are better, but the reason men are lacking in fundamentals these days is because the game is so much more athletic and above the rim that the need for fundamentals has gone out the window (which is why you see good players become more fundamentally sound when they get older and lose their athleticism). I think the Uconn women might be able to play with some average high school boys teams, but thats about it.
