I even Googled for "University of Cincinnati hand sign" to see if theirs was similar - and apparently they don't have one. Well done!

Maybe he is a Tech double agent and part of a sleeper cell to go live in the event of a Cincinnati - Tech NCG? Or just a moron.

There has to be more to the story of him leaving Tech, Cincinnati is on a one-way road back to obscurity.

Not really. Their last 3 coaches all had success there and parlayed it into bigger and better gigs. Sure Tech to Cinci is a step-down but I think you're laying on the hyperbole a little thick.

Odd if true. Imagine he was doing something else and that gesture was just in the process.

Probably just a brain fart. Every once in a while I'll catch myself giving the Frog hand sign to someone who has no TCU connection (but we have some sort of other connection, like Texans fan or who went to my high school).

He's probably just so used to doing it, it slipped out (kind of like when you tell the waitress "you too" when she tells you to enjoy your meal)

The fact that Cinci is in the Big East, which is unraveling is the basis for my hyperbole (No auto BCS, smaller revenue share, etc). Also, they have crap facilities, so the likelihood of them getting invited to one of the big boy leagues is diminished greatly.

When the Sec /Big 10/ and PAC 12 start pillaging the ACC/BE/MWC again, Cincy may look pretty damn good. Think I saw a special on cable with Butch Jones this fall... showing off some of their facility upgrades, that looked pretty good. How good compared to other programs, couldn't say for sure.

Cheers !

With how sudden the move was, I wonder if it has anything to do with Tubb's wife running a red light last spring and hitting that elderly couple, with one of them dying in the hospital a few days later.

Why else go to Cinci? And this was about his first opportunity to get out of Lubbock while stepping right into a new job.

That sounds unlikely to me because legal problems, civil and criminal, can certainly follow the Tubervilles to Ohio. It ain't like they are moving to a place with no commercial or extradition relationships with Lubbock County, Texas.

But maybe Mrs. Tubs was getting the old stink-eye at the country club and the junior league. West Texas ladies are certainly capable of thinking poorly of someone they think seriously misbehaved, and making the miscreant uncomfortable and feeling unwelcome.

Yeah, I don't understand all the posts relating this move to his wife's car wreck and trying to escape the law.... Cincinnati is in Ohio, not South America
