The part where it says "athletes are creating significant economic value for institutions", I just don't agree with it. It's the other way around.

Good article. Trying to explain college athletics overall to another country is pretty tough. It's U-21 football but it's tied to University. It's "amateur" but it generates billions of dollars. You don't have to play in college, but the NFL doesn't have a minor league and they don't let you go to the pros until you are over 21.

Sure the Brits have transfers, but they transfer players who they have under contract, that's why they get to retain control and get consideration when they loan someone out. The NCAA doesn't want to do that.
