Top Three Games at The Carter

In the last 5 minutes of that video, on TCU’s last possession, after a couple of good runs, you can hear a fan yell a couple of times “run the ball”.

And watch that final drive for the tying score. Another example of the fine Big 12 referees. Wiley wasn't even close to stepping out and that side judge was looking right at it. Makes you wonder sometimes if there's a fix. I mean how can they be that bad without trying.

One of my 'bad memorable' games at AGC was losing to Rice, 37-31 in 1986.

Leaving the stadium we saw a couple of guys in the parking lot chanting something they'd just made up:

"We didn't get arrested!
We didn't get arrested!
But we lost to Rice!
We lost to Rice!"

Then lost to N Texas the next week. Those NCAA scandal days weren't fun. I was a pup. I became a hardcore TCU fan back then. Those teams had a lot of grit and were pretty salty considering there wasn't much to work with for a few years.

Memories synapsis are failing but was that not the game that we actually ran out of fireworks? During the game??
When TCU was up 61-27, I thought the scoring would be at an end....Tech fans sitting two rows in front of us had given the Guns Up sign throughout the first half and then again when Tech scored its last TD to reach 27.....I couldn't help myself, and yelled, "How's that Guns Up working for you?" They got up and left....

I'd love to see a game called by you, and be able to critique it afterwards with the benefit of slow motion replay.

The game moves really fast, there is A LOT going on out there, and the officials are human. Players sometimes throw really bad passes, or drop balls right in their hands, or fumble, or stumble, or miss an easy assignment. Mistakes happen all the time, not sure why people think officials should be perfect. All in all they do a hell of a job, it is HARD.

I remember this game. I remember this whole weekend. The one bright spot was Reggie Davis making the best catch I'd ever seen. Have never been able to find video.

I was a SR in HS. Pretty sure that Stone Cold Steve Austin was on that Mean Green Team.

All good games. How about 2001 Louisville?

We were 4-5. The conference officials and Liberty Bowl officials were there to crown them conference champs and invite them to the Liberty Bowl. I think they were ranked 17. They came charging out of the tunnel right in the middle of the senior day ceremony. We whipped them all over the field, and all of the powers that be had to come back next week to crown them champs and invite them to Memphis. Then the next week we beat USM at the Rock and got invited to the Gallery Furniture Bowl where CP showed his arse. Not a great season, but that win showed some potential, we built some momentum, and got extra practices for the younger guys. The next year we were awesome and the GP legacy started.
The 2 very quick, early TD’s were classic. Never forget L Dunbar running up and down sidelines flapping his arms like a bird!

That was the first year in CUSA and Louisville was a top 25 team and might have been undefeated, and already had the championship nailed down....TCU stunk up the previous week at Alabama-Birmingham.....Then the Frogs schooled UL....That set the stage for next year's game at Louisville at its homecoming....Channel 5 broadcast it (not ESPN, or CBS, or Ed's TV Network, just a locally produced broadcast, commentator was Newy Scruggs...yeah, he's old, too)....UL fans and team were primed for revenge, and the Frogs were up at halftime 38-6 and the UL fans booed their team at homecoming....

Personal top 3...

1. Utah 2009 - I don't know how many times I mentioned to my wife that game that the stadium was electric. Everyone knew that the game was going to be special and it really showed.
2. OkSt 2018 - Thanksgiving weekend and stadium was pretty empty. They encouraged fans to join the student section to fill the lower bowl. Something about being with the students really elevated the spirit level. Participated in the giant banner thing and wife got hit in the face with a tshirt from the cannon. Good times.
3. Tech 2014 - Sweet revenge for the 70-35 loss to them 10 years prior.

I don’t know what the line was that day but TCU hit UT’s Johnathan Grey early in that 1st quarter so hard, I think he fumbled but I know he quit after that hit.

Texas was out classed by TCU that day. Revenge on Texas doing bad things to TCU in AGC in the 1960’s
Was that Grey or Daje Johnson or both? The Frogs concussed the hell out of Daje on a bubble screen early and he never came back. He was the recruit that switched from TCU to Texas late in the cycle. If I recall correctly, Daje switched to UT but didn’t have the guts to come to the door to tell Patterson to his face. Had his mama talk to Gary Instead. He disrespected Patterson and ends up carried off the field at Amon Carter.

Was I supposed to type something here?

Grey was manhandled the year before in Austin in his final season at UT. He wasn't carried off, but he likely spent a long time in the whirlpool post game...

We were at UAB and UL, twice, first time was sweet, we beat the crap out of those red, plastic seats to make noise for those Frogs. 2nd time we went there I kind of knew how people feel that get run over by a train!

I'd love for you to stop being a moron, but the odds of that happening are about the same as me reffing a game at my age. That call wasn't even close. Go watch it. And the Big 12 refs are notoriously bad, its not just me that says it.
