This one is top 2. Some of those others were nice for the program but this was huge given our first year in the Big 12 and all the injuries and freshman playing key roles.

Yeah to think that it's been 45 years since we last beat UT in Austin is pretty crazy. This win is just another conference win in the Big 12.

BUT it is actually vindication. It proves we belong. It proves "We Have Been Playing and Beating the Best For Years!"

It proves that we've come a long way since the SWC and our history as bottom dwellers.

It's nice, but barely in the top ten. Any of the 09 10 or 11 teams would have done the same in their year. For image, this was a big thing. But this Texas team has been horrible against the run and very beatable when it can not run. The Horns were given a win vs. OSU and should have lost at KU. UT should be 6-5 right now.

And because most can't even admit that TCU won the game instead of Mack losing the game, it is not as big as done of the other big wins of the last 10 years.

Have people already forgotten BYU '08? We crushed a heavily favored team, debuted the Wild Frog and Jeremy Kerley's special talents, and we started a run of Top 25 rankings that didn't end until the SMU game last year. I'd put that one ahead of BYU '09, for sure. Certainly Boise '08 - that was just the Poinsettia Bowl. Let's see (and I'm just going with Gary's HC years):

The last one I'm not so hot on; I could just as easily put Boise '08 in there. But that was our first MWC win. And wasn't that when Jeff Ballard came off the bench to lead the comeback?

Nah I give the sun bowl to GP keep it on the list. Gp made Fran. Yeah the Boise poinsettia game prob should have been there but gameday was at byu so I had to put it in the 10 spot.

I think it was important enough to easily qualify in the top 10 because it answers the perception question about all that week in, week out stuff we've heard for years. Will it move the needle on recruiting, maybe. But UT certainly isn't going to be able to recruit against us on the basis that we're not able to meet that threshold after we just beat them. If nothing else, it should solidify the thoughts of recruits who are considering us to keep doing so.

It's different from the Baylor deal in that they've had a long history in the Big 12 of showing that they were not really competitive except for RGIII. They may be making some headway but, given UT's seemingly inherent advantages, it is far better not to have to try and dig yourself out of that hole that Baylor has found themselves in.

It's Texas. We just beat Texas in Austin on Thanksgiving. Hell yes it is in the top 10........not No. 1, but it's gotta be in the top 10. It's not bigger than the Rose Bowl, but the No. 1 reason we are excited to be in the Big 12 is so we can beat the Whorns every year. A win over BYU or Utah more important than this? Come on.

It is the issue of how it matters to the program. It might be hard for some to realize or remember, but TCU was not the program it is today in 08. Those wins in 08 were huge. They transformed TCU from a school where even people in DFW did not know that TCU was even in the Metroplex to becoming a major force locally. It is easy to forget that in 08 the local media was all B12 and TCU barely got a page 7 mention.

08 transformed everything. TCU was a minute (or a couple missed FGs) away from the Sugar Bowl, even with a loss. The non-AQ smackdown between TCU and BSU was a major issue. Coming back from the OU loss and beating a ranked BYU team, one that had beat TCU in 06 at the Carter in dominating fashion, was a huge deal. The dominating defense became a national story. The big games from 08 were huge.

To put it in other words, the players at TCU today came in large part due to 08 09 & 10, with the GameDay wins being huge.

The Rose Bowl war the culmination of a lot of good things. The win over Utah in 09 was amazing and I wish the Carter was even 25% as good these days as it was that night.....

We, like everyone else, tend to place a lot of importance on that team we beat last night. It's understandable. It was a big win for our program, but it was not a game being played for anything of season significance (except maybe a slightly better bowl).

Getting to a BCS game was huge for this program. Getting to another was astronomical, and winning the MF Rose Bowl was almost unthinkable. They did it.

This seasons foibles and faux pas will be largely forgotten in 20 years. It will just be a win vs taxes. Some will likely mention that we had a lot of injuries and a young team. It will likely be maniac, in the oldscribe role.

Playing on Thanksgiving night, first year in the 12, AT taxes make it big for this season. Doubt we get major recruiting pull specifically due to the game, but perceptions shifted, just a little - and thats a good thing.

Playing for a conference championship, a top 10 ranking or a major bowl all rank higher.

This one is top 2. Some of those others were nice for the program but this was huge given our first year in the Big 12 and all the injuries and freshman playing key roles.

No way. Wins over USC, Utah, and OU were much more impressive. Any of those teams would have wiped the floor with this Longhorn squad (Carson Palmer, Adrian Peterson, etc.). I'd also rank our victory over Tech higher than this one, holding Leach to 3 points was awesome, and then obviously the Rose Bowl is number one. So that makes this the 6th best win under Patterson, and then only because of Thanksgiving and because we finally can respond to all the UT trolls with "scoreboard."

This victory has to be the result of Gary Patterson's best career coaching effort, considering the major handicap under which he labored. Most teams that lose both their number one quarterbacks and number one rushers would have been forgiven for mailing it in from then on.

As fans we can take pride in that fact, plus the national stage upon which it played, the hated opponent whom we defeated, the inglorious losing steak it ended, and the role in which we proved ourselves as worthy conference members and as suitable opponents and successors to the Turkey Day rivalry of yore.

Add it all up and it merits top-ten status, maybe not in sheer drama (due to our clear superiority throughout), but certainly in its historic significance.
