...and throws his former coach right under the bus.

This makes sense if you knew Barrett. All of us knew he was unstable way before he got to Oakland. Too bad we didn't know the difference between moody and bipolar back then.

I'd say throwing a super bowl by changing the gameplan the friday before the game constitutes as pretty dooshy...

I need to post in the HASMSP thread, to be sure tho.. I'll let this thread know what the other thread says

Totally different time line give by former Raider running back Zach Crockett on Mike&Mike on ESPN this morning. Says that game plan was changed because of Robbin's absence, rather than causing it.

I think Crockett's story is likely a little more reliable than Brown's, as Brown has always had a penchant to say radical things to stay in the limelight. The Raider's franchise was crumbling at the foundation already near the end of that 2002 season, and a lousy coach (Callahan), who has relied on the momentum of the team's previous excellent head coach (Gruden), likely cannot outcoach said former coach.

Gruden had insider knowledge of the team's strategy, which is more likely to account for Gannon's five interceptions than the loss of the center (albeit a pro-bowl one). Robbins stopped taking his meds right before the Superbowl, and he struggled as anyone would expect. Both factors contributed, but all Callahan had to do to sabotage the Raider's that Superbowl was show up. No extra tomfoolery was really needed. I'm a life long Raiders fan, but he was just another poison that brought the Raider's to where they are today. Ten seasons straight of W/L records at .500 or worse? I'll listen to the cowboy's fans complaints when they've finally hit that mark, although I will say Jerry Jones is doing a pretty good Al Davis impersonation these days.

Tim, maybe the Raiders were overrated, too?

The Bucs were loaded on D that year with Sapp, Brooks, Lynch and Barber in their prime. Gruden helped them overachieve on offense with Johnson at QB, but man they were tough on D. Even if it weren't for Barrett's meltdown and the gameplan change, the Bucs would have won any way - probably in a closer game.
