Middle row of seats...a periodic 5-4 conference record, more often 4-5....With at least 2 if not 3 Mid-America, American, Sun Belt conference opponents to heist the season to 6-6 and a thanks for participation ribbon at a minor bowl....Yep. Great times. And then Del Conte left, GP completely lost it, and college football moved the goal posts to better benefit the biggest programs. Even then, we had a shot (in '22)... And the goalposts got moved further.
It was an amazing 25 year run! Not sure where we go from here.
That '12 season was damned close to being good. Got screwed out of at least two Conference games via Officiating. '13 was awful. '14 was magical...Middle row of seats...a periodic 5-4 conference record, more often 4-8....With at least 2 if not 3 Mid-America, American, Sun Belt conference opponents to heist the season to 6-6 and a thanks for participation ribbon at a minor bowl....
Yeah, the facts are GP was a 59.5% winner once we joined the Big 12. 52.3% in conference. From ‘18-21 those numbers were 48.8% and 40.6%.Yep. Great times. Cmon. You don’t appreciate the 7 top 10 finishes in a 10 year period, a Rose Bowl win, and a Peach Bowl win…and all of those seasons where were a part of the national conversation?Yeah, the facts are GP was a 59.5% winner once we joined the Big 12. 52.3% in conference. Another poster said we “didn’t appreciate” what we had. Meanwhile, and this really isn’t meant to stick up for SD, but he’s been a 66.7% and 63.% winner here.
Those are the facts. So why should people appreciate what we had before but not appreciate anything about what we have now? And the guy damn near has hands tied behind his back because half our fan base seems to root against him. Some old money guys don’t want him to win, so I’ve heard.
Not like there aren’t examples of it happening at other programs. I miss having an alpha male in charge. He was our Saban/Kirby Smart and he stopped winning enough to get away with it. But I’d have kept betting on that horse because as has been discussed around the board…what we are seeing was predictable because it’s literally the average result of all coaching changes. By the time TCU gets its head wrapped around paying SD all that money to sit on an island somewhere though the landscape of college football may have officially left us behind.Ill would take LRBWGMFP back in a heartbeat.
JR's situation was so brutal. Still sucks to this day. And his greatest claim to fame was the Cheezit Bowl when the defender bounced off of him.I don't think GP "lost it"; I think his downfall was two consecutive top QB recruits faltering.
Shawn Robinson looked like he had the potential to be incredible; as a true Soph he played reasonably well against tOSU. Knowing how guys tend to develop as they age, if he had followed a good trajectory he could have been a program changer.
We all know what happened but when SR left we had a huge void because Justin Rogers, another top recruit, was injured in HS and we stuck with him.
Two consecutive QB recruits failing to deliver meant that Duggan has to be rushed into service and wasn't ready. If either SR or JR had panned out the 2018 and 19 seasons would have been much different.
That’s cool but unless he comes with an annual team payroll of 35m plus then he’s taking us to a berth in the pop tarts bowl.I'll would take LRBWGMFP back in a heartbeat.
Name a team in the national conversation these days that isn’t a major player in pay-for-play. The game has changed to where any program that can’t spend like crazy is more or less an afterthought.Cmon. We are an afterthought now. Nobody outside the program respects Dykes or has confidence in him, so nobody thinks of us. Our recruiting has tanked, and Dykes isn’t the portal wizard we were promised.
I thought he had turned the corner at the end of last year. He actually did a great job keeping the team together after some really bad games in the middle of the season.
He’s regressing again, though.

We always had a garbage OOC outside of a couple games (OSU and LSU), and Dykes hasn’t been able to recruit to a conference with UT and OU in it. Makes a difference. The new league hasn’t been any easier to win in than the old one for all the old B12 holdovers (except Tech, for obviou$ rea$on$)SD facts are vs a relatively garbage OOC and Temu B12.
Some of our greatest recruiting and players came to TCU to play in the MWC/CUSA/WAC. There’s no denying that the B12 we joined and the one we are in today are two very different leagues. We always had a garbage OOC outside of a couple games (OSU and LSU), and Dykes hasn’t been able to recruit to a conference with UT and OU in it. They are different, but the one we are in today is really no easier to win in than the previous version for TCU, all things considered. Why do you think the holdover teams are faring no better now than they were before? Ask Mike Gundy and Dave Aranda how easy it is to win in this new B12.Some of our greatest recruiting and players came to TCU to play in the MWC/CUSA/WAC. I know you are really not so stupid you don't get the idea that we are going the wrong way with Dykes - I guess its a schtick with you at this point....Yeah, the facts are GP was a 59.5% winner once we joined the Big 12. 52.3% in conference. From ‘18-21 those numbers were 48.8% and 40.6%.

so you don't think Dabo or GP deserved more years but you think a flash in pan Dykes does? what a jokeThey are different, but the one we are in today is really no easier to win in than the previous version for TCU, all things considered. Those teams that we had in the MWC/CUSA/WAC could never happen today, so it’s not even relevant.
How long should Clemson stick with Dabo? Last year was the first year worse than 8-4 in 15 years, and his run was at least as impressive as GP’s, maybe moreso. Should they give him another 3-4 years if he keeps going 6-6 like you suggest we should’ve done with Gary? I don’t think there’s anyone that believes that.
