This is Dykes. We are maxed out with him.

This is what we are and will be with Dykes. There is plenty of history to prove this. We will remain a 8-9 win team every year and the anomalies will be fewer wins, not more.

You get a little offensive excitement from time to time on top of a poorly coached and undisciplined team.

He was crapping clovers in his first year. He was lucky over and over. I don’t like to prop up an injury but if Morris ( the QB he chose) stays healthy we don’t go undefeated. On top of that, those were GPs players and still mostly disciplined at that point.

Then he goes on his media tour touting his Fiesta bowl win and settles into what he is. A mediocre coach.

I hope I am wrong and he shows us he can grow into a top tier coach but nothing has shown that he can.

Could be worse, we could have signed Napier.

IMO, I think TCU is one terrible unit (OL) away from being a good contending team, although special teams are also in a shambles right now.
Unfortunately for Dykes, “A dead fish rots from the head back”
TCU’s biggest issue is the OL, which is a bottom of the barrel P4 unit, and has been for 3 years in a row. The OL might even be getting worse with each passing year.
All of this Is on AJ Ricker! (Protected by Sonny Dykes)
Ricker has had little success in his 20 year career. He knocked around the FCS & MAC levels for 7 years before getting a chance in the B10, but he was so bad in the B10, that he was knocked back into an ”analyst“ role.
Finally, Ricker was hired by Dykes into a good position at SMU, which already had good talent baking in the oven. He had great success for 2 years. Unfortunately Dykes believed in Ricker and brought him to TCU.…..where he has been a magnificent FAILURE for the last 3 years in a row.
Ricker should be ousted now, and if this team can’t get on a roll this season; then Dykes should go too.
Ricker’s NOMADIC resume’:
2006–2007Western Michigan (GA)
2008Western Michigan (OL)
2009Saint Joseph's (IN) (OL)
2010Saint Joseph's (IN)
2011–2012Western Michigan (RCG/OL)
2013Illinois (OL)
2014–2015Missouri (OL)
2016Houston (off. analyst)
2017Oklahoma State (off. analyst)
2018Kansas (OL)
2019SMU (OL)
2020SMU (co-OC/OL)
2021–presentTCU (co-OC/OL)

two of our best players did not play--running back and wide-receiver. Game came down to two plays--a missed interception (us) and a successful interception (them). That's not on Dykes. I would be satisfied with either 9-3 or 8-4. If we lose to Baylor I will not be satisfied. Goal now is to get into the conference championship game. There may well be a two conference game loser in that game. A loss next weekend to Colo. would be disastrous.

It would not have mattered if they had played. TCU defense couldn't get off the field. O line was outmatched. TCU finally played a quality opponent and got exposed. 7 wins will be a stretch. The talent level is just not there and with bad coaching, it won't get any better.

Not to mention the trash he brought in from the curb.

I recall many games with Patterson toward his end that TCU teams had issues with being undisciplined as well.

Not disputing your take on Dykes, but the Patterson Purple shade glasses from some folks on here needs to go. His last 4-5 years were not very good.

That’s the problem. Since when are we okay with 8/9 wins every year?

Lol for thinking Gary's leftovers were more disciplined. Why do you he got fired mid season??
What? That’s completely silly.

The 2022 OL starters that GP left behind included:
Brandon Coleman: Washington Commanders
Steve Avila: LA Rams
Andrew Coker: Cincinnati Bengals

That’s some DARN GOOD LEFTOVERS!

Plus:
Alan Ali: Minnesota Vikings (came with Dykes, signed before Ricker)

Who do you see on our current OL that will be playing in the NFL?

GP wasn’t fired because there was a lack of talent. He was fired because the team completely under performed with the talent he did have, and at mid season, the entire locker room turned on GP with some very nasty accusations that I wont repeat here.

It is a little early for me to call the season a goner. ASU is a battle-tested team and they made the key plays in the 4th quarter at home.

You are not giving our D enough credit. They played well enough to win. Front four is legit.

You are correct about our OL. LT play is not good enough. They make it easy for DCs to rush 4 and drop 7 and still pound Hoover again and again.

7 wins? Next 4 games are CU, at KSU, Baylor and at WV. Why are we doomed? Baylor is the toughest team in this group. SMU should have beaten them and ASU did the same thing to them in Waco that they did to us last night with the same score.

Tough loss. Frustrating for sure. But let's see what happens in a week before I call us cooked.

Why are we doomed? Really? Read what you posted. O line. D is terrible. Coaching is terrible.
