Lynx's Olivia Miles already making Wings' Azzi Fudd draft pick look bad

Olivia Miles belongs.

It doesn't take long watching the Minnesota Lynx rookie to recognize that the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft is quite comfortable in the professional ranks, even just two games into her career.

Her early performances will also start to raise an immediate question: Did the team picking first, the Dallas Wings, get it wrong by picking Azzi Fudd over Miles?

They're different players - Fudd a sharpshooter and more complementary player in an offense that already included Paige Bueckers, while Miles is a clear rising star with the basketball in her hands all the time.

I can’t remember if it was a coach or the owner that said that they drafted Fudd over Miles as a favor to Bueckers because they are dating… Tells you how incompetent that league is.
Bueckers recently said that their relationship is nobody's business but their own. Unfortunately that isn't the case if you influence your employer to draft your girlfriend.

I think there were some legit basketball reasons why a player like Fudd was a better add to their roster than Miles. and it’s not like Fudd came into the draft as a late round pick projection or anything. Figure most of us are biased in our opinions, but I really did feel like Miles’ game and maturity were just going to project into the W on day 1 more so than any other draftee.

BUT the optics of how all this went down and just how lost the org looked when people asked the obvious questions just made it feel like their relationship definitely influenced their draft decision.

Yep. I said IF but not sure that came across. Tough to know.

I just wish Fudd was a male player; would be called Elmer at every turn.

Miles vs. Fudd in Arlington tonight. I suspect both teams were motivated to have their picks show well.

Olivia had 15 pts, 6 dimes, 2 boards & a block; she was +8 in 32 minutes. She made the tying bucket and assisted on the go-ahead score in the last 90 seconds.

Fudd had 8 pts, 1 board, 1 steal & a block; +11 in 20 minutes.

Lynx won 90-86.
