The PUB closing May 18th

Just saw on Instagram that the PUB has lost their lease (evidently Buffalo Bros is expanding) and their last day is May 18th. Dam! A ton of fun memories there.

Well that sucks. I haven’t been there in years, but spent plenty of time (and money) there in days gone by. The Hop, The Hi-Hat, The Stables, and now The Pub … all gone.

Sad deal. I loved taking visitors there after home games and showing them old Polaroids of my college days on the wall. As someone pointed out, they were the last ones standing from the early 2000s.

Does anyone here know what happened to the "Library" was it just a 4-7 year flash in the pan. I spent multiple nights starting at the Pub and migrating to the Library across the street in the late 80s.

Before that it was The Yellow Rose, or fondly referred to as "The Hose." Known for it's excellent jukebox, DigDug machine in the adjoining sandwich shop, and line kicking to Sinatra's 'New York'...

I was drunker than [ Finebaum ] one night at the Pub with my buddy. Talked [ Finebaum ] to some girl playing pool. She came over and told me I owed her a game. I got her number. Then eventually married her. Couple of decades later she still puts up with me. The Pub was a [ Finebaum ]hole but we loved it. Sad to hear it go.

Sad. It happened in Austin as well. All the old places in west campus are high rise condos, barf. Well, the drag worms still exist.
