    CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Indians have claimed left-hander Alex Young from Arizona and optioned him to Class AAA Columbus. Right-hander Aaron Civale was moved from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL to make room for Young on the 40-man roster.

    Young, 28, was designated by Arizona on Thursday. He made 30 appearances for the Diamondbacks this season, including two starts. Young went 2-6 with a 6.26 ERA (29 earned runs in 41 2/3). He struck out 38, walked 20 and allowed 50 hits.

    Arizona’s second round pick in 2015 out of TCU, went 11-15 with a 4.73 ERA in 62 appearances, including 24 starts, for Arizona. Young’s best season to date was in 2019 when he went 7-5 with a 3.56 ERA in 17 games, including 15 starts. He struck out 71 and walked 27 in 83 1/3 innings.
