The Mercury Manhattan: Turnovers doom K-State in 66-59 road loss to TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas — As they have done so often this season, Barry Brown and Dean Wade did everything in their power to carry Kansas State to a victory Tuesday.

But without much help from their teammates and a season-high 19 turnovers, Brown and Wade's efforts were for naught, as K-State fell to TCU 66-59 at Schollmaier Arena.

Brown and Wade combined for 41 points. Wade's 24 were a game-high, while Brown finished with 17 before fouling out with 43 seconds remaining. Brown also dished out a game-high six assists.

The frogs lead the Big 12 (or are tied with the lead) in these categories. The turn around for this program is magnified when looking at these numbers for me.

- Assists (19.2 per game)
- Assist/Turnover Ratio (1.5 which is tied is KU)
- FG % (.503)
- 3 PT FG % (.407)
- Rebounding Defense
- Defensive Rebounding %

Was talking to a buddy this morning about how TCU could be a tough draw in the NCAA tourney. Last night he shot the ball well below our averages and still scored 66 points. Realistically our opponent seems like they need to score at least 75 plus on most nights for them to have a chance to win. Really excited to see how we have played defense in this stretch of games as well.

KSU is pretty lucky we didn't win that game by 20 last night. Between uncharacteristic wide open 3pt misses to the turrible free throw shooting, they were lucky to be in that game.

This post reminded of the national champ game from last season. UNC shot abysmally from 3 vs Gonzaga (something like 3-27 or close to it) and still won the title. Complete teams can overcome shortcomings even on the biggest of stages. The frogs are becoming more of a complete team before our eyes (and no, I’m not saying the frogs will get to the title game).

But you're not saying they won't either, amirite?
