The Harris/Biden Administration: Coming Together to Build Back Better

That was an out of control political conspiracy theory for sure. Here is a timeline from the NYT on how misinformation and innuendos got amplified so fast. I bet there are people that still think it was some sort of male prostitution situation:

Can you post THE New York Times story about the crazy conspiracy theory that Democrats pushed that this was some sort of Right Wing political attack?

I’m having trouble finding that article

You guys impeached a president on the false premise that he was asking a Ukrainian official to look into a "crazy conspiracy theory" about corruption...when it turns out, there was corruption, and the Democrats knew it!

So, you're just gonna have to forgive a few people on Twitter for creating a conspiracy theory that had ZERO political impact or implications. You lost any high ground about conspiracy theories pretty much forever with that one.

Why do you think he answers the door with a dress shirt on, no pants a drink in his hand and a smile? Let's hear YOUR theory. And I hope it's better than your Covid theories.

Check out the arrest warrant- it includes all the evidence of this guys' obsessive and delusional thoughts about Nancy, how he broke in and there is no evidence to support any of the allegations that made the rounds in some circles immediately afterward (and still persist!). It was a made up narrative that has no factual basis. But your comment does show how hard it is to squash false narratives. "Whatabouts" and "I reads" are like whack a moles sometimes.

Agree- the Dems definitely have no high ground, that is for sure!

I think there were two issues kinda converging in to one. Pelosi was attacked and everyone said it was horrible, but then the usual suspects were then very quick to try to tie that attack to right wing voices "inciting violence" as if they were responsible for this lunatic attacking Pelosi as they tend to do whenever an attack like that happened (of course never when it was violence against a right wing person). So as a backlash to that sort of smear, some right wing voices started forming these really weird conspiracy theories about male prostitution and yadda yadda. Now the video comes and shows....yeah it sure appears to be pretty much what it was initially reported as. NBC inexcplicably scrubbing their report on the attack that appeared to be totally accurate certainly didn't help either.

It was kinda the same thing with the George Floyd stuff. The initial response to the Floyd incident was nearly universal in its condemnation of the police. When it became a political cause to further the Abolish the Police movement and resulted in literal riots, some right-wing voices that objected to that political position then started pushing nonsensical theories like "Chauvin didn't actually kill him he was a drug addict that overdosed" or defending Chauvin or whatever.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste" is a disaster for public discourse.

Good points on the politically motivated "right (or left) wing voices are responsible" BS that happens when bad stuff happens. I do think that is different than what happened here with conspiracy feedback loops that created a false narrative. Starts out on the edges of social media, the web, gets picked up on by fringe sources and then innuendos from talking heads and pretty soon you have a full blown alternate reality narrative that is hard to counter, like in this case.

Thank God Pelosi wasn’t killed. That was a brutal attack. Unfortunately San Francisco seems to be a complete [ Finebaum ] hole run by idiots who let these psychos run rampant.

What is in the video?
Paul with a dress shirt on, a smile and a drink in his hand which is ALL I said with no speculation about anything else.. Which incidentally was what NBC first reported. No one with a brain believes it was a male prostitute or a MAGA republican for that matter. But the entire thing stinks to high heaven. It's certainly not the way someone being attacked would respond.

Maybe he had Stockholm syndrome. That's it!

He’s probably scared of the nut with the hammer who’s got him by the hand and he’s trying not to escalate the situation.

He might be drunk (which should violate his probation) or just scared and confused.

Give the incredibly rich drunk felon who makes millions from insider trading thanks to his evil hag wife a break.

Have you listened to the 911 call?

He seemed to be trying to keep the guy calm. I wonder if he thought the guy wasn't going to actually attack him once the cops got there (since he'd been able to placate him for so long already) and that he was just somebody who needed mental help.

You can also see the video of him breaking into Pelosi's house.

My questions are:

1. Where was his security?
2. Why did it take so long for the cops to get there?
3. Why didn't the cops treat this as an active hostage situation after Pelosi stated he was being held captive on the phone?

Wait, do you not think the attacker was motivated by the conspiracy theories about Pelosi fabricated by the Right Wing?

In his interrogation, he said the reason he wanted to hold Nancy hostage was:

"scheissing liars. It's insane. She has to be like….(unintelligible) with Trump being in office. What they did was so far beyond. It's just crazy…. It originates with Hilary. But Pelosi ran the lie, day in and day out. The person on TV lying every day was Pelosi.

This is a record-breaking crime spree, the Democratic Party.. They are criminals. They were submitting fake evidence to spy on rival campaigns….yeah, Trump. …It's an endless scheissing crime spree.. until they were able to steal the election."
