What is the Republican Party supposed to stand for? What has it stood for in the past?
Like most parties, it's ebbed and flowed. It's been progressive under the likes of Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower (and even Nixon, in some ways), it's been conservative under folks like Reagan and the Bushes. I mean, it pretty much started as a party favoring a more powerful federal government back when the Democrats were upset that the Feds might have the temerity to tell them they couldn't own people.

Personally, I'd be happy to go back to the Newt Gingrich style Contract with America Republican. Concrete policies to solve issues that Americans are dealing with. Small government, free trade, low taxes that encourage private investment, but don't skirt government solutions [or skirt the ability to fund them] when they are necessary. And take hard stands against the abhorrent grifters that try to glom on to the party.

I don't disagree, but I have a hard time understanding what the Lincoln Project people think Republicans should be. From everything I've read from them in the past couple years, they are dyed-in-the-wool Democrats.

Depending on your perspective, I suppose you could argue that they would be Republicans in the 80's and 90's, but the populist shift in the Republican party over the last 10 years (ironically, towards traditionally Dixiecrat positions) make them appear closer to today's Democrats?

However, it's probably more accurate to just say they are outright favoring Democrats right now, part and parcel, because they consider the Republican candidates to be unsupportable.

(Oh, and just in case this is interpreted as supporting TLP folks, there are a lot of horrible, horrible people in that organization).

rush made himself and a number of radio station owners rich simply being anti -liberal, clinton's were the greatest thing to happen to him and one of the worst for texas because dan patrick would have most likely run his radio stations into the ground just as he did his sports bar
It is possible to have a successful career with a pro conservative and anti-liberal philosophy, or vice versa. But making a career out of being anti-one human being seems a very short term, angry, exploitive endeavor. Grab some cash and retire.

true, but she doesn't need a long term career being in her mid 50's as her 8 years of service put her eligible for her pension at age 62 if i remember correctly for congress

so "move back" to washington where her husband is a lawyer, be a guest expert on some of these network shows, be the face of a pac or three, and i think not only can she fill her spare time, but they can make enough to get by

That, more than anything describes Cheney (and her father). She's an irrelevant footnote to history and more so if she hadn't gloomed on to Trump.

Hubbie's law firm is going to be quite busy defending Hunter, probably at thousands/hour.

Saw something last night on Twitter I think from Lincoln Project saying the Republican Party is now dead.

What conservative principles does the Lincoln Project stand behind? As far as I can tell, they are just Democrats, and pretty left-wing ones at that. What is the Republican Party supposed to stand for? What has it stood for in the past?
In the case of countering Youngkin, they stood for dressing up a black guy in white supremacist garb as a false flag.

While visiting the YMCA in the Mountain View community, Jaman said that she was showering nude after a swim on July 26 and witnessed a male who identifies as transgender in the locker room and was startled that the individual seemed to be watching young girls change out of their bathing suits.

Sure, but understanding the Cheney legacy will be that of a bitter, angry, small, vindictive, defeated politician. Maybe the money makes it worthwhile.

I don’t think any Cheneys are too concerned about a pension.
