EECU the card that wins TCU championships

The golden age of TCU basketball?

All time record versus top 25 teams before Feb 6, 2012:

12-103 (.104). 3-37 over the last 40 games before beating UNLV Feb 14 dating back to 1998.

Last 12 months (Feb 14, 2012- Feb 6, 2013):

3-2 (.600) with wins over #5, #11, #18. Includes an OT loss to #21.

Took us five games over the last calendar year to accomplish what took 40 games over the previous 14 years.

Enjoy it while it lasts!

It's definitely been easier to watch in these last two seasons than it was before. And with this recruiting class coming in, hopefully things keep looking up.

RSF you were there during those Golden Years of 1985-1987. One of the Golden Eras.

Er, ah, years.

Two great years. As great as those two were, relatively speaking, my standards are higher.

But I still wonder what might have been if they hadn't screwed us in the NCAAs on that David Rivers call.........

The david Rivers situation was the second time we got screwed in post season by the refs in a Notre dame game. I believe 1971 with Goo Kennedy we would have at least made it to the Elite Eight and maybe to the Final Four That Horned Frog team got better with each game that season, and again we got screwed by the refs in the Notre Dame game. We outplayed them the entire game but a UT-ex-- a first year ref-- gave Austin Carr every call and we lost. It was criminal.

That '71 team is the best ever at TCU, followed by the '68 Mickey McCarty bunch and the mid '80's Killer Frogs and a couple of Tubb's fives.

The difference between '71 and '87 was coaching. Killer is the best Coach in TCU history. Some will say Tubbs or Swaim but neither were the overall coach that Killer was.

Agreed. Loved Killer. Swaim was fortunate to hide two ringers named Kennedy and Degrate at FW Christian before signing. I played city league bb with Degrate a few years after he graduated. At 6-4 he was a great athlete / leaper and dominated inside.

So, what are you saying? You don't think we would taken care of UNC?
Ha! Come on Lash. How long have we known each other? Forever? You know I think we would have been competitive. I was just answering what would have happened if JD didn't get called for a bogus foul. I was just saying that I'm pretty sure we would have played Carolina.

That was an opportunity of a lifetime. I hope these young guys realize what is at stake every time they take the floor or field.

I was just kidding. The ND game crushed me. I don't think I talked to anyone for 2 weeks.

Killer was probably the best coach in TCU history (I don't think the numbers will support that), but Tubbs' teams were the most fun to watch.
They both had some really good players. Killer was there along with Wacker, leading to a re-juvination of both programs, but Tubbs brought the team to national recognition.
Coach Johnson's game is certainly more in the mold of Killingsworth. How that plays out remains to be seen.

SurfCity,
Check out the video below. #24 is Jimmy Walker, Jalen Rose's father. This is the championship of the 1965 Holiday Festival in Madison Square Garden. Guess who #34 is?
