"It’s been a lot of hard work (coming back from a season-ending knee injury suffered last fall), staying dedicated to the process of it, and knowing that over time it’s going to get better. The opportunity to go to TCU gave me something to work for. I’m just grateful for everyone that supported me and helped me through this. I’ve wanted to be a Horned Frog since I could walk, My uncle Tye (Gunn, a former star quarterback for TCU) has been a huge role model for me, and my uncle Sam went there too. I’ve always been a Horned Frog fan, so it’s dream come true to have this opportunity.”

- La Grange senior football player Oliver Gunn, who inked a preferred walk-on deal with the TCU football team Wednesday

I always thought Tye was a great quarterback for us. Got injured a lot but when he was healthy we were tough to beat. Still remember watching them upset Oklahoma in Norman.
I was there for that game too; great game. We beat OU and their running back Peterson. I've never had opposing fans that nice to me after a game. And I remember the play (not in the OU game) where his knee blew out. We were all sick when that happened because he really had the talent.

Because he got banged up in the OU game we lost the following week at SMU. Tye was the greatest QB that kinda never was because of his injuries. Loved him when he was on the field.

Was I supposed to type something here?

While that was a factor, I still point to the boneheaded game plan (Tech ran for over 400 yards on them the week before, but we decided a passing attack was just the thing!), and five missed FG attempts.

Gunn was a favorite. Wish the injuries had not hurt his TCU career. He was one of the great ones and we never got to see him reach his true potential.
As I recall, when he was being carted off the field with his knee immobilised, he was fist pumping & exhorting his team to “finish it” while trainers & med staff were trying to get him to hold still in-transit.

So you're saying that injuries were the only possible type of Gunn control?

BTW it would have been nice if the article mentioned his position. I looked it up and he's listed as a TE/DE.
