The Detroit News: Michigan State's William Gholston feared on field, a big kid off it

Scottsdale, Ariz. -- To the average college football fan, William Gholston is a 6-foot-7 menace who was named second-team All-Big Ten while racking up 12 tackles for a loss this season.
To the opponent, he's like watching "a video game character." At least that's how TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin described the Spartans defensive end that will be chasing him down during Saturday's Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
Gholston even thinks he can be an asset to Michigan State hockey coach Tom Anastos. With a Detroit Red Wings tattoo, Gholston wishes hockey still needed some tough guys and would love to get out on the ice. "Anything is worth trying," he said.
But to at least one person out there, Gholston is none of those things. He's not a menace, he's not a video game character and he's not an aspiring hockey player. He's simply dad. ...
