Washington beats out TCU for 4-star Louisiana CB Curley Reed

By Christian Caple

Curley Reed, a four-star cornerback prospect from Lake Charles (La.) College Prep, announced a commitment to Washington on Thursday, becoming the 18th member of the Huskies’ 2023 class — and the highest-rated prospect in the group, per the 247Sports Composite.

Reed, rated the No. 155 overall prospect and No. 20 cornerback in the 2023 class, chose Washington over 25 other reported offers, including LSU, Miami, Oregon and USC, though he took his only other official visit to TCU.

Hopefully next year, after a season with a better record, a decent bowl game win under our belt, and a new coaching staff having dispelled much of the current uncertainty concerning coaching style, new offensive and defensive schemes effectiveness , S&C philosophies, and recruiting strategies, that we'll start to win more of these battles. Recruiting off of a 5-7 record and no bowl game is tough.

Just look at all the advantages Baylor currently has in recruiting, with a 11-2 record, conference championship, big bowl win, and numerous articles promoting the notion that Baylor is set to become the new Big-12 Conference Overlord (after only one good season, many of their wins were very narrow ones, plus the fact that they still couldn't beat TCU). Yet with all those advantages, and TCU's disadvantages, Baylor's supposed recruiting success is largely due to the old quantity over quality issue, with Baylor currently having seven more recruits to pad their numbers.
