The Arizona Republic: TCU’s Jason Verrett glad he gave himself 2nd chance

One game into his TCU football career
, cornerback Jason Verrett was ready to give up.
The junior-college transfer had just been burned by Robert Griffin III and his talented receivers for three touchdown passes in a 50-48 loss to Baylor in the 2011 season opener.
Verrett went into coach Gary Patterson’s office the next day to hang it up.
Patterson wouldn’t let him. Verrett also listened to teammates, family and friends who told him to stick it out.
He did, and now he is an All-American, trying to help TCU (7-5) end his junior season on a good note with a win over Michigan State (6-6) on Saturday night at Sun Devil Stadium in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
