the preseason stuff and early season rankings are always garbage as a whole. but it's obvious it's meant to market an outcome. no way the committee can say it does not affect their view of it. because it has dang near every year.

The ESPN FPI system in particular is the most worthless piece of garbage I’ve ever seen. It ranked something like 12 of 16 SEC teams in the top 25.
