Top story line for the last several days, said Boykin was ranked as the top player in a tough district by every coach there. Quite a compliment.
They were especially complimentary of his running ability saying he might be more dangerous with his feet than his arm. He is only a 50% completion type thrower, but can throw harder than anyone I've seen in years. They pointed out because of this, they suspect he will be a wide out(or some other off position) and an explosive offensive threat in college.
Taking 3 QB's in this class, is very interesting. Could be a bunch of athletes that will need shaking out, maybe one to be a QB. Merka looks like the best guess, from an amatuer evaluator?
Made a prediction they would take 3 QB's in this class. Remember the class when we didn't take one. Really like the idea of taking QB's, usually the best athletes on any team. Can recall when Darrell Royal took Sandy Sands, Duke Carlisle, and Tommy Wade, all 3 QB's from East Texas. One became a tight end and the backup, Wade, played for years in the pros. Carlisle was a MVP in a Cotton Bow.
