I posted previously that those folks in Lubbock bring to mind the movie The Last Picture Show.
Well, the aftermath is gonna be a sequel. And I was wrong. They are more like Last Picture Show's sequel ... Texasville.

This sounds like the most likely scenario. They NIL’d him a $million, and then he said see ya and headed to TT. They sued him to recover their dough, and in the meantime Cincy leaks what they know about his gambling to the NCAA as retribution. Question now is whether there’s a trail leading back to Cincy.
This story just keeps on giving.

I think Tech would have gone after another QB had they known about Sorsby's dirt, there were certainly other comparable QBs out there they could have signed if they were willing to part with $5M.

If Cincy knew, there's no way Tech didn't.
The staffs all know the same folks. They use them and communication conduits when they are not just directly talking to each other. Likely a lot of folks knew. The ones who played him and signed him with the intent of playing him anyway should not be spared an scrutiny inthis.

supposedly cincy was alerted through an ap that sorsby was logging in to place a bet. they called him in. he said he was denied access. there was no proof otherwise. evidently, he often used proxies to wager. there was no ncaa action at that time.

then after sorsby landed in lubbock, the ncaa was alerted. no one knows who did that, but it may have been a state gaming commission - or maybe cincy? essentially using tools available through wagering industry policing they caught him. that was march. cincy very well may have never known what was going on or they may have been the snitch.

I don't doubt that Cincy knew. The problem really isn't knowing about it, it's what to do with that knowledge and skating around the dangers of others knowing you know...

I agree for the most part, but the 2 warnings came in Aug. of ‘24 & again in Aug. ’25, and they came from the actual app that Sorsby was placing the bets on. How do you ignore that source, and just take an addict’s denial?
Cincy should have sat him, and investigated further to get to the real truth. Instead they pulled a Pontius Pilate, washed their hands, and started him at QB for their own benefit. They must have had a gut feel for what the real truth was.
We’ll never know for sure what Tech knew, but it is almost a certainty that Cincy didn’t say a word, as they were complicit.

I thought this was funny and true. Some guy on X handled Jarhead Frog posted it.

Playing football at Texas Tech is kind of like working at Amazon.

Nobody really wants to be there, but the pay and benefits are what matters the most, and so you stay even though your quality of life sucks.

in cincy's defense, not all wagering is against ncaa rules. players are free to bet on anything the ncaa does not run a championship in, for example wwe and horseracing.

i'm betting we never know. this could have been some low level cincy assistant athletic director who told the ncaa, his last girlfriend, a former teammate, who knows?

brings back memories of k-state qb el roberson's former girl doing him in for [ Baylor accusations ] at the fiesta bowl - never happened, charges dropped soon after.

What happens next? Another injunction? UDFA signing? Sit out a year?
I’m assuming it would be tough but not impossible for the NFL to block teams from signing him. Probably safe to say much more drama to come. Thanks, Tech!
