Frog13 how crazy was that outfield wall in person?
It was a strange-looking place. The stadium is only 13 years old, but looks 50 years old, partly because the fence looks like it was put together one layer at a time over that 50 year period. The buildings in right field made the fence bend in at strange angles. I'd have just painted the yellow line on the buildings and stayed away from the chain link/poster/banner fence. By the way, there was no admission to enter the game, so 200 people showed up Sunday. Friday and Saturday had fewer.
I think the fence was about 25 feet high in several places. With the jet stream going out to right field, a pop fly was a home run. Jason Coat's Grand Slam would have been an out in most places, and Cron's HR off of Merck was a pop fly in every park but Ogden.
Strange grass, too. Fescue, maybe. Long, soft and wet.
We hit 9 HR's in three games, after Utah had given up 17 in 39 games coming into the series. I think our kids did well considering Friday and Saturday's weather. Sunday was decent, other than the wind out to right.
