TCU on SI: Josh Hoover has his sights set high for the final four games

One thing I wish Hoover would do is pump fake one direction and throw another. Sometimes to me he zeroes in on one receiver and is going to throw to that guy no matter if he has triple coverage or what. He can throw through a brick wall, but that is one area I think he could work on.
Dalton used to be terrible at locking onto his first read early on in college but he was able to progress beyond that. Hopefully hoov can as well.

^^^ Dowdle was responding to a tweet from JD Andress that Hoov had surgery on his throwing hand thumb during the bye week, but is expected to play, possibly with a brace. Andress’ tweet may have been removed??? Guessing that’s what @82 Frog Fever posted above.

^^^ Three sources he trusts (or trusted) all gave him the same wrong info??? I don’t think so. I think staff pressured him into taking down the post and taking the fall.
Yes, I agree, my post wasn't all that clear. I think there is something going on, obviously. I still don't know how you throw the ball two weeks after surgery on your throwing thumb. Maybe Seals will start.

Here‘s a pic from Instagram of the brace/wrap Hoover is currently wearing.
You can see a portion of the thumb wrap, but I can’t tell how much of it is blocked by his wallet/phone.
There may also be a flesh tone bandage, or maybe they shaved the back of his hand around the thumb knuckle. Just a guess, it‘s hard to tell.
Also the metal piece wrapping around Josh’s hypothenar eminence might be extending into the palm of his hand. Idk.
I assume he’ll be wearing something different while playing in a game, as it would likely be difficult to grip & throw a ball with accuracy & velocity in the current brace/wrap.

I don’t believe it really matters whether it was a jammed thumb, or some sort of a sprained ligament/tendon that doctors cleaned up surgically for pain management.
My personal opinion is Hoover did have surgery, and for whatever reason, the team/agent does not want it reported. JD Andress is an excellent reporter, and he had 3 sources that he held to be reliable. All 3 sources definitively told JD that Hoover had surgery.
In addition, the brace/wrap also looks like post surgery, as the back of his hand from the middle finger to thumb appears to have been shaved. Just an opinion.
In the end, the only thing that matters is when Hoover is cradling the ball, can he apply whatever thumb pressure he needs without an intolerable amount of pain. As long as the level of pain isn’t making him adjust; then he should be good.

Was I supposed to type something here?

Game action will be hard to take that soon after any kind of surgery, minor or otherwise. Taking snaps, meshing with an RB, just catching a snap from the shotgun will be different. Can he grip the ball sufficiently to throw his normal frozen rope?

I guess we'll find out.
