In pro news, Reese Stalder is putting together a nice run as a doubles specialist. He’s up to #130 in world or so in doubles… hopefully getting close to some ATP tournaments and real money. Just made the final of recent Challenger

I see he's on the entry list for Delray Beach next week playing with former Tar Heel Hijikata. I hadn't realized Stalder joined the coaching staff at UNC until Roditi's post match video. I guess one upside of the move is you get to partner with the winner of the most recent major.

Ah very interesting on many accounts. That's freaking wild that Hijikata won the AO in doubles... geez. Just finished UNC.

And I see Stalder is a volunteer coach (going with unpaid here), which is how he keeps playing professionally. Kind of like Chappell with TCU.

Great opportunity for Stalder to get a couple ATP wins and maybe really climb the doubles ranking.

Re: previous discussion on line calls, chair umps may miss their fair share, but at least they prevent this...

If you want to do that to me and make the gentleman's sport ungentlemanly I'll be your hucklebearer and hurdle the net to whoop your arse with your own racquet. I'll wait for the chair umpire to disqualify me before I stop.

The replies speculated that it was payback for a previous call. I only had one time in high school where the guy made a bad call I knew without a doubt was deliberate. I badly wanted to do what happened in the vid, but I just called for a line judge, which at HS level are not provided to each court but are available on request. Maybe if I had bigger cojones!

It's also funny to see the opposing player react by just sort of shrugging his shoulders. His coach was looking at the other court and couldn't really offer any assistance. I wonder if the server noticed that prior to the hook.

Yeh I've seen this happen before. One player gets robbed a few times and then they make a statement by doing something like this. Tennis is an extremely unique sport in that you can play it at a decently high level and the players are the referees.

And even if you go the vigilante justice route, how exactly do you make up for a hook? If my opponent is serving, hits a winner at 30-30 and I call it out, it should be 40-30 but instead it's 30-40. To just hook me back on the next point only gets it to 40-40 and I still end up better off.

Seems like if both players don't agree with the call they should replay the point. I think the deterrence to making bad calls is that you could replay enough points that you'd end up in the equivalent of a 5 setter if you create a lot of distrust in your opponent.

I guess they liked UK's 4-3 win at UVA more than our 4-1 win at Tennessee. I think that's bs, but it probably doesn't make much difference at the moment.

The Women's draw at Indoors is out but we're still waiting on the men's. If the draw at Indoors follows today's rankings, our path to the final would be

R1: Florida
QF: USC or Tenn
SF: UK or Stanford or UT or Baylor

That is tough but probably as good as we could hope for. The other side of the draw would have Ohio State, Michigan, and UVA.

Bad news is Pinnington lost, but obviously bigger picture is it's great to have in the lineup finally. The parts I saw, Paroulek played really well. I'm sure Pinnington will play better once he gets his feet wet. He won't win every time out, but his presence makes the whole lineup stronger. Jong should be a terror at #4 singles if he stays there. Unfortunately he dropped his 1st set in a tiebreak but he's up in the 2nd.

Who did he replace in the lineup?
