In pro news, Reese Stalder is putting together a nice run as a doubles specialist. He’s up to #130 in world or so in doubles… hopefully getting close to some ATP tournaments and real money. Just made the final of recent Challenger
Ah very interesting on many accounts. That's freaking wild that Hijikata won the AO in doubles... geez. Just finished UNC.I see he's on the entry list for Delray Beach next week playing with former Tar Heel Hijikata. I hadn't realized Stalder joined the coaching staff at UNC until Roditi's post match video. I guess one upside of the move is you get to partner with the winner of the most recent major.

If you want to do that to me and make the gentleman's sport ungentlemanly I'll be your hucklebearer and hurdle the net to whoop your arse with your own racquet. I'll wait for the chair umpire to disqualify me before I stop.Re: previous discussion on line calls, chair umps may miss their fair share, but at least they prevent this...
The replies speculated that it was payback for a previous call. I only had one time in high school where the guy made a bad call I knew without a doubt was deliberate. I badly wanted to do what happened in the vid, but I just called for a line judge, which at HS level are not provided to each court but are available on request. Maybe if I had bigger cojones! If you want to do that to me and make the gentleman's sport ungentlemanly I'll be your hucklebearer and hurdle the net to whoop your arse with your own racquet. Yeh I've seen this happen before. One player gets robbed a few times and then they make a statement by doing something like this. Tennis is an extremely unique sport in that you can play it at a decently high level and the players are the referees. The replies speculated that it was payback for a previous call. It's also funny to see the opposing player react by just sort of shrugging his shoulders. His coach was looking at the other court and couldn't really offer any assistance. I wonder if the server noticed that prior to the hook.
And even if you go the vigilante justice route, how exactly do you make up for a hook? If my opponent is serving, hits a winner at 30-30 and I call it out, it should be 40-30 but instead it's 30-40. To just hook me back on the next point only gets it to 40-40 and I still end up better off.Yeh I've seen this happen before. Seems like if both players don't agree with the call they should replay the point. I think the deterrence to making bad calls is that you could replay enough points that you'd end up in the equivalent of a 5 setter if you create a lot of distrust in your opponent. And even if you go the vigilante justice route, how exactly do you make up for a hook? Live stats show Pinnington playing at 2 vs. Paroulek. Frogs are a true contender now. Fearnley at 1; Fomba at 3.
Who did he replace in the lineup?Bad news is Pinnington lost, but obviously bigger picture is it's great to have in the lineup finally. The parts I saw, Paroulek played really well. I'm sure Pinnington will play better once he gets his feet wet. He won't win every time out, but his presence makes the whole lineup stronger. Jong should be a terror at #4 singles if he stays there. Unfortunately he dropped his 1st set in a tiebreak but he's up in the 2nd.
Jirousek. He and Vives in my mind are clearly out of the top 6 when we're fully healthy. But it's awesome that we have 2 guys of that quality on the bench. I don't remember us ever having that.Who did he replace in the lineup?
