Initially I just pointed out the seeding was off based on what you would normally expect. That kicked off some back and forth with people who disagreed. Most of my posts on the topic were just explaining why I saw it as being off, not going on and on about it being a major travesty.

And yes, tennis duals are best of 7 with 6 singles and 1 doubles point. The match today was a total annihilation.

never said major travesty,said teeth gnashing, at the most fomba would have played 2 of the 7 matches and this is a fairly deep squad so......

Good catch on the Roditi quote. Not sure how anyone could argue the other side when our coach says it this strongly.

"The guys got it done," head coach David Roditi said. "Really proud of them. Great performance over a very good team. There's no reason for the No. 2 [seeded] team to be playing the No. 19 [ranked] team in the nation in the second round of NCAA's. Not fair.

I don't blame anyone for thinking it's insignificant at first blush. Like I said earlier, I really don't think there's much difference between A&M and some other lower ranked teams. But it matters a little and Roditi's quote shows it. And if you happen to be the kind of person who doesn't regularly participate in a lengthy thread and then just drops in to lecture the regular posters, you should probably make sure you know what you're talking about.

I am surprised nobody is reporting on the current biggest question we all want some information on—the status of Luc Fomba, the second best player on the team. Limping is not good.

The chance of a national championship without him becomes unlikely instead of very much within reach as the #2 team that is 2-2 in four matches versus #1 Texas this year, correct? TCU wants to take full advantage of this great opportunity for a TCU national championship and its rewards by having this team full strength, physically and mentally, to compete and beat the contenders. Fomba’s recovery time or having doubt in his mind whether his leg will hold up when he plays doesn’t help keep his game sharp if he does make it back at some point.

Absent #2 Fomba, the crucial doubles point when playing top teams is more in danger, and 5 of the 6 singles positions are weakened as #3 through #6 all have to move up to #2 through #5 and someone comes off the bench to slot in at #6.

We're gonna need Fomba back to win the title, simple as that. I don't think we'll need him next weekend vs Miss State, but I'd feel a lot better with him than without. And like you said, it would be a lot better if he weren't coming in cold if we do make it to the quarters.

I wish we had better info about injuries in this sport. I think the way this works is you just need to get some betting interest on the outcome, and the mandate to provide detailed injury info follows. Maybe a former Alabama baseball coach knows someone we could talk to...

At the four minute mark, they suggest they will talk about Fomba’s absence at some point during the interview but then I never I heard it discussed, but I am working and may have missed it.
