The computers are poised to bounce us out of the #1 spot next week. The main reason is that the calculation expands to count your top 7 wins instead of the top 6. There's a big gap between our 6th best win (UVA) and our 7th best (Tulsa). Of course if we win on Friday, we would get to count the Baylor win in our top 7. Incredibly, that result still will not keep us at #1 if all else goes according to form. The main reason is that our win vs Florida gets discounted with us moving to 1 and them moving back to 2. The margin would be so slim that there's a good chance it would probably flip back the following week.

I guess the lesson is not to sweat the week to week changes. But it's a pretty weird system that essentially penalizes you, ever so slightly, for moving ahead of a team that you've already beaten.

Jack Draper defeated Gilles Simon 7-5, 6-1 in Miami to set up an all-British match with Cam Norrie on Friday. This is Draper's first main draw ATP 1000 match W although he has won 3 Challenger titles. Draper is 20 years old and has practiced with Norrie frequently.

Im pretty hyper about the match Friday. I know it’s not a conference match, but should be awesome. Hopefully a good crowd. Will the tailgater trailer be there?
It's certainly a big match - I wouldn't necessarily say the biggest of the year, but it will certainly foreshadow Big 12 play. Baylor is clearly an elite program; they were a national finalist last year. They're 17-2 on the year, with W's over Creighton, Nebraska, ACU, Boise State, William & Mary, Miami, Idaho State, Incarnate Word, Texas, Tulsa, Virginia, Mississippi, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Illinois, Arizona State and Arizona and their only L's were to Tennessee and, most recently, 0-4 to Michigan. The reason they've slipped from the Top 4 is simply because their top W's are not as impressive as the teams above them; not necessarily because they aren't as good. Boitan and Lah remain top players; the Bears remain very dangerous. (They've even got Teddy Paroulek now). Baylor is now the Frogs' biggest rival. All-time, TCU leads the series 35-27, but that's misleading. We won 30 straight from 1974-1998 and they won 15 straight from 2002-2015. Since Roditi arrived, it's been more closely contested, but they took 2 of 3 last year, including knocking us out of the Big 12 tourney and the NCAA's in the quarters (1-4). We shared the Big 12 regular season title last year. This match will be at home, but the Big12 regular season match will be at their concrete monstrosity in Waco. It's scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (CDT). Hopefully, we'll have a good energetic crowd. The Baylor players and their fans tend to be very loud and obnoxious.

Baylor people being obnoxious? Absurd. Saints. Every last one of them. Except all of them.

Norrie won and will face 21 y/o French player Hugo Gaston. Had never heard of this guy but he seems fascinating. He's a 5'8" lefty who plays with very little power and tons of finesse. His signature shot is the drop shot. Former #2 ranked junior in the world.

Check out the clip from his win over Alcaraz at Paris Masters last year. He came back from 5-0 down in the 2nd set to win it, and basically reduced Alcaraz to tears. The crowd is amazing.

No one hits like Gaston
Matches wits like Gaston
And Alcaraz really got blitzed by Gaston

There it is. Don’t ever remember seeing that happen to us. This is embarrassing.
I take it back. It happened last year in the debacle at Gainesville. We played those out too and only won a single set. So I guess this one is at least slightly better, except that we subjected the home fans to this one.
