Alastair is into the semis at Heraklion with a 3 and 4 W over Deckers this morning, which means more ATP points. He'll next play Peter Hajta, a 19-year-old Hungarian with an ATP ranking of #669, his CH. Gray has advanced so much in the rankings that Google now gives his results on a search rather than having to distinguish between him and Alasdair Gray, the Scottish writer.
Well, the ATP points are the same regardless of the purse. But yeah, the RSA and Doha tourneys (Gray's last 4) were all $25,000 purses and this one isn't, but I think that's because South Africa and Qatar are more off the beaten path and there are fewer tourneys there as compared to Europe, so they beef up the purses a little to attract more and better players (or maybe their sponsors have more money to spread around). To the players at this level, the money is pretty piddly anyway and they're probably chasing points more than money in any event. You have to make it to the Challengers before the money gets anywhere near good and you can only really make a living if you make it to the ATP250 level consistently.Good result so far, it is strange he entered a 15K Futures tourny... the lowest level of professional tennis. Looks like if he wins the tourny he would move about 50 spots into the low 500s. At this point he's moved about 15 spots I think.

I'd trust your link over me. They changed up the whole system 2 years ago, and I guess they changed the points too. Thanks for the correction. Are you sure? The link I have says that 25K tournaments are worth 20 ATP points to the winner, while 15K tournaments are worth 10 points to the winner.
Unfortunately, Lopez ended up losing 5-7 in the 2nd and is out at Harlingen.Seventh-seeded Gerardo López Villaseñor has reached the quarterfinals at the Futures 25K tournament in Harlingen, and is currently on court with top seed Paul Jubb. Jubb took the first set 7-6 (4) and it's 2-2 in the second.
We got any new studs signed for next year?
Disappointing.Norrie may have made a mistake in withdrawing from further tourneys prior to the ATP Finals. Matteo Berrettini suffered an abdominal injury in his match with Sascha Zverev today and may well pull out of the Finals in Turin. If so, that would mean Jannik Sinner would replace him as the first alternate - he played last week and lost to Murray in the first round but it was enough to solidify his lead over Norrie for the first alternate slot.
In fact, it's official now as Berrettini withdraws from the Finals and Sinner will replace him.
Maybe that's why he went there and SA? Play several consecutive tourneys in one place to reduce travel expenses? Seems reasonable for guys like him who aren't making enough money to live off of yet.As anticipated Gray moved up about 30 spots to a new career high of #531. This Greece site is hosting like four Futures tournaments in a row and Gray is entered into all of them so he will be in the same place for a while. Unfortunately they are all 15K tournies... a little strange. Hopefully he can put together a run of semis or better results and move into top 500 and then transition into Challenger qualies starting in 2022.
For sure, wouldn't be surprising. It's also an island of Greece and the city is on the coast in the Mediterranean. So basically like a high end month-long vacation with tennis.Maybe that's why he went there and SA? Play several consecutive tourneys in one place to reduce travel expenses? Sebastian Gorzny, #8 ranked US prospect for class of '22. Right now we only have 8 guys on the roster. Aguilar and Ruehl are out of eligibility after this season and Fomba could go pro if he has a really good season. We'll probably bring in another grad transfer next year, but there might still be room for another recruit.
